It’s a little maddening that people here were optimistic saying they will sign a big free agent or two, even signing someone to a 9-figure contract and basically called the people who were realistic overly pessimistic like there’s no track record of them not spending lol and now the people that we’re optimistic are saying it was never realistic.

If whatever was posted yesterday about then having a budget of $180 mill is true then I guess we can kiss the Conforto dream good bye.
-
Yeah there's definitely still a chance we can have a good off-season. Let's reel in Conforto today to at least get one need filled.
-
We don't need to add stars at every spot but man I will be disappointed if we finally get that Joc/Engel platoon. I wouldn't consider Conforto a star player but a good player that fits a big need. Is it possible signing him will be the biggest contract given out by the Sox in history? Sure, but that's not really saying a lot.
-
Wow. We've gone from wishing they would make some big moves to accepting they are good enough to win the division and that's enough to have a chance.
-
I can not wait until we have a new owner and move on front the current front office. How many off-seasons have we read that they have misread the market? It's pretty embarrassing.
-
I can't see the Sox spending that much for their backup.
-
Yan Gomes to Cubs. 2 years $13 mill. Feel like he’s their starter with a Contreras trade (eventually).
-
Is something close on the Kimbrel trade front that makes you think otherwise? Segura or McNeil perhaps? Edit: just saw your response.
-
I can already hear Hahn's comments about how they didn't feel they needed to spend a lot since they already have a great core in place and just needed complimentary pieces (after signing Joc, Villar/Iglesias/Hernandez for 2B, the return of Leury, and lesser reliever).

Javy Baez Signs 6YR 140M Deal with Tigers - Morosi

I made a mistake. The article said “expected” so not quite confirmed yet. I was also thinking it would be in the $25-30 mill range. -
Javy Baez Signs 6YR 140M Deal with Tigers - Morosi
Bob Sacamano replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
7 years $140 mill confirmed. Could have been a lot worse. I expected about $25 mill a year. edit: nevermind, it says expected to be for so not confirmed yet. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/11/tigers-sign-javier-baez.html -
The good news is we can still sign Conforto. I feel like there should be enough interest to where he signs for over 4 years though.
-
He will be significantly cheaper than Seager so I think he has a good chance to return to the Dodgers.
-
Yeah he definitely upgrades their team but I’d prefer the Tigers sign him than Correa.
-
-
Oh, that was in reply to the comment about Yankees fans being upset they didn't sign a SS (there's still 3 out there).
-
This is where I'm at too. If you sign him for one year, you have the same hole to figure out a year from now. Resolve it for multiple years.
-
I thought the same thing.
-
No way.
-
Correa, Baez, and Story are still out there.

Expanded Playoff Proposal - 7 Teams from each League
Bob Sacamano replied to KrankinSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Honestly, I already stopped watching the postseason if the Sox aren’t in it. A little bit here and there but I just don’t care to invest almost 4 hours in a game my team isn’t in. When I was younger I watched most games. -
You're funny. I'll give you that.
-
Hold on to the better players instead lol no reason to weaken the team for the sake of making moves.
-
Yeah it was just more believed that deals had to be made today to give time to finalize them before lockout.
