Sign Conforto, sign a cheap 2B, play Sheets at Charlotte (or sell high on him, I don't care) and make it work for a year until Abreu is a free agent (not that that is a guarantee for him to be gone).
Yeah that doesn't help solve the rotation at all. Unless in this scenario, Vaughn is dealt for a front of the rotation arm with like 4+ years of control.
Honestly, I was thinking about it the other day and I would be content with Villar at 2B in the 9-spot for cheap if it means we added a top of the rotation arm and Conforto is in RF.
I think it's pretty clear they don't have any sources, outside of reading posts on Twitter or this board from people who do. It's really easy to connect teams to free agents and line up trade partners based on needs. When a move doesn't happen? "The team talked with team/player and he signed somewhere else/trade fell through."
What second baseman "like Marcus Semien" is out there? Free agent market is weak at 2B, especially when you realize Escobar isn't good against righties.
I think it's just specifically a 26-man roster tracker, though the "active roster" in the offseason is the 40-man roster. Would be easier to track that way instead.
He’ll probably go somewhere like Pittsburg or Cleveland or some shit where he can finally play every day. Worth a gamble for them at 3 years of control remaining.
