Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
Bob Sacamano replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It was for defensive purposes and assuming DH (where Alonso would be) but I agree, I don't think they would do that to their star player. -
They have 2 spots open (before injuries). 0% chance Kopech starts the year in the majors, Lopez I personally think is ticketed for the pen (use his last option and let him work in a relief role at AAA). Cease has a spot locked down. They for sure need to add one more reliable arm.

Have a hard time believing this when they have never signed anyone to a 9-figure deal.

Agreed.

And 2 of those guys would help them at the MLB level immediately. -

I would think the price is high. They shouldn't be in a rush to deal him. -

With minors: 2017 - 145.2 2018 - 116.2 2019 - 71.1 2020 - 59.2 Must have been hurt in 2019. -
Sox sign Hendriks: 3/$39M - 4th year optional with $15M buyout

Can you confirm that they are close on another move? -
Just a couple corrections, but he has 3 years left, plus an option ($4 mill buyout for 2024). The deal he signed was a 4 year deal, plus option. Everything else is correct though on his salary. Edit: looking at his numbers, I thought he did worse than he actually did.

If he were to sign a 2-year extension, that final year would be a year in which we lose Keuchel (unless his option gets picked up). Plus, too much pitching is a good problem to have and you can always trade someone (even Lynn himself). -

Let's see both a 1 or 2 year extension for Lynn and a 5-6 year extension with Giolito! -

For Benintendi? I wouldn't trade the Red Sox anything more than Reynaldo Lopez. Benintendi hasn't been good in like 3 years. I don't get this board's obsession with him. -

It's because his name is Gonzales. -

No thanks. -
Yeah probably some team like that and a low cost.
-
As I said yesterday, every team should have someone there.
-
Latest update says no Rangers, but "another AL team."

I still feel like Molina could get a starting job (he had some reported interest early in the off-season) but I'd be cool with him being a backup. -
If you're not putting that money towards Bauer, you should have enough for both with how many options there are.

Along with being a left-handed, high OBP, low K guy, LaStella in his career also isn't a black hole against lefties.

Agreed. Oh well. -
If they add another OF, sure.

Agreed. And a backup catcher is what, like $1 mill of that. Plenty of room to add.
