I almost singlehandedly installed and then defended it on r/place in 2022 I think. Made friends with some of the other communities nearby and had mutual defense agreements. Was pretty fun. ☺️

Not feeling great about this one. We are giga cheeks against pitchers who have their command or their stuff and Williams has been good lately. Coupling that with poorly timed slumps for our 3 most important hitters, looks like the odds are against us today. Be nice if we could get out of the first inning without giving up runs. This team has a knack for losing 2 games then winning the next 2. This ain't a 4 game series though so we need to act like we lost 2 already.

The 2011, 2012, and 2013 Astros lost 324 games. The 2014 team wasn't great but markedly improved. The 2015 team made it to the LDS and lost. The 2012, 2013 and 2014 Cubs lost 286 games then made it to and lost the LCS the next year. The 2017, 2018 and 2019 White Sox lost 284 games then made it to the Wild Card the next year and lost. I don't think the 2026 White Sox are an outlier at all, given the statistical proof above and that year, rebuilds when done right are proven to lead to successful seasons. And that's cherry picked examples in this century alone. I know you're finding it ridiculous that we are all pondering this possibility, but this ain't the gotcha you think it is.

I'll nitpick a little bit on this and say some of their players are actually very good and have been for their careers so far. Wilyer Abreu 3+ bWAR in 24 and 25. Ceddanne Rafaela 3 in 24, 4.9 bWAR in 25. Caleb Durbin 2.7 bWAR in 25 Contreras pretty consistently a 3+ bWAR guy.

Who is calling them cheaters? The title of this thread asks the question, which is not an accusation. The rest of this thread is basically people pondering that question. None of us have proof anyway to make such an accusation. Baseball has a checkered history in this regard, and it's probably not just White Sox fans wondering the same thing. I think we're all eager to see them fall back to planet Earth soon so we don't have to wonder about this.

This is where my mind went when thinking of possibilities. It seems completely plausible. Their clutch hitting right now is simply on another level, one we don't see too often. They do, indeed, look like they know what's coming. I would like to see a team go back to flashing signs between the legs against them and see how it goes.
