Sox have lately been boned by hard contact. DeGrom is the fortunate recipient of some of our regression to the mean.

Theres 2 sentences i never thought id see in conjunction with each other.

2 big mistakes by Langford in this game.

It sounds like these guys are being coached for power above all else, because when you do hit it its hard and does damage. I am not necessarily sure I agree with that approach. Pitchers seem to be better than ever nowadays and we need to be able to fight off tough pitches, and go with what the pitcher gives you, which is sometimes opposite field. The approach worked great for a month or 2 earlier this year but the league figured it out and they've been .500 since.

It's certainly one of the sophomore slumps of all time.

Losing to these teams is a double whammy if Cleveland wins. Lose ground in the division AND in the wild card. Wooooooof. Need the team to show up for the next 2 games.

Watch out if Ramirez starts swinging it again...

I would bet its easier to lose focus when the task at hand is to start a 9 run rally with 2 outs in the 9th. Also pitchers are likely to just challenge you to make contact to get it over with faster and since you cant hit a 9 run home run.

I feel like if that was a Sox hit someone would have been standing exactly right there. Lately its just been miserable.

Sometimes you need to pick up your pitching. Each game is different. If each game the pitching gave up four or less runs, stats stats yada yada top pitching team of all time or something. Sox had chances to put up big runs in that game and just didn't do it. I get the pitching has been a problem lately, but it's not like the offense has been world beating either.

I'll give you the first game but that 5 runs was nothing special in game 2. Needed a few big hits there to have a chance in that game.

Offense basically lifeless since the Tigers and to a lesser extent Cubs series. Just can't get that big hit or string together a crooked number in an inning.

Doomers must be eatin' today. Offense has been kinda ass for awhile now, though.

It was a good call by Schriff.
