Royce Ring= He sounds like a combonation of Mark "The Bird" Fidrych and Al "The Mad Hungarian" Hrabrowski. Can't wait till he gets to Comiskey. "Sprinting in from the bullpen"????? John Rocker anybody?

So, how do the Sox stack up against the Twins?
CubKilla replied to Cerbaho-WG's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm hoping Guardado comes down with the same "save ailment" that plagued Bobby Thigpen after he set the MLB single season saves record. -
When you're behind Kurt Ainsworth, Boof Bonser, and Jerome Williams, you won't. But, he did rank, I believe, as one of top 50 RHP in all of minor league baseball. That, and his stuff is just plain filthy. Ha ha ha..... Boof..... ha ha ha.....

Soon to be replaced by [email protected]

Wright is definitely the closest thing on our starting staff to Colon.
-
Green is the chosen color for sarcasm
-
Me and you don't disagree often Baggs, but I just don't see this one happening..... at least by Opening Day..... maybe a mid-season call up but I think Rowand will be our CF'er for Opening Day.
-
voted to allow the All-Star Game League winner to have home field advantage for the WS. The vote still has to be voted on by the MLBPA.
-
Two things I never thought I'd read in print except for in a sarcastic font color. this is from baseball perspectives by Mike Bauman. You can read the entire article here Mike Bauman must have got his job as a baseball beat writer yesterday.

getting fleeced by KW is like losing an arm wrestling match to woody allen???...lmfao! ! !...poor minaya....he'll never live this down At least there still are some baseball publications that know the KW that most of us know.
-
Mario and I are about the only ones who will still support that Clayton deal. In retrospect it was a terrible move, and KW admitted it. Royce's temper meshed, but HE wasn't why the Sox sucked the last two years. People can use him as the scapegoat, but there were more serious reasons for why the Sox lost. K-layton wasn't THE reason but his attitude and his non-existent first-half bat certainly didn't help matters. I'm just glad him and Ritchie will be on a team that represents what being a loser is all about.
-
Buehrle's a professional. There was no sarcasm from him when he said this, trust me. He may not care for KW and may, ultimately, want to go and pitch for his favorite boyhood team, the St. Louis Cardinals, but MB will never, EVER, consciously or unconsciously cause a clubhouse distraction simply because JM may (or may not) move him down to the #2. Trust me when I say this..... Buehrle knows what Colon brings to the table and he will (probably already does) realize what a one-two punch himself and Colon have the possibilities of becoming. I think some people just can't give a smidgen of credit where credit is due. Does this one move make us the WS favorites? No. But it does make us a better team than we were last Thursday. Even those that can't give KW any credit have to, in the back of their minds, acknowledge that..... whether they voice it or not.
-
Unless KW and Co. think Olivo isn't ready and the Organization is more inclined to go with an IRod/Alomar catching duo at the beginning of the 2003 season..... I don't think that is the case, but there is an outside possibility.
-
i feel the same way as hsc, they are just throwing a bone to kw for job security. Who cares? The deal got done and it was to our advantage..... atleast for 2003. I'm one of KW's biggest detractors but I give him credit for this one. And big deal if Cashman was the architect. We got a potential 20 game winner in Colon and gave up practically nothing..... no Maggs, no Konerko, no Crede, and no C Lee. I'd like to know how this deal could be bad for us from the people that are so against it.
-
She's the only one. I wouldn't sweat it. She's cool and realizes that Sox fans sometimes agree to disagree. I'm just glad to see KW do something right for once..... whether it's being the architect of this deal or riding the coat tails of Cashman..... KW FINALLY DID SOMETHING RIGHT!
-
JR still is and always will be a cheap prick. Yeah, he took on Colon's salary..... but the payroll is still, at this point, lower than 2002's. Let's not anoint JR as a Steinbrenner now. :fyou JR!
-
wsf colon can go for so long because it takes him a f***in 3 hours to pitch through 1 inning... hes got to be the slowest f***ing thing on the face of the earth other than molassas in january....(although they are very close in speed)................i can hardly wait to sit through one of his all niters.....( the following all in sarcastic sounds).. whoopie..im thrilled... yahoo.. i cant wait....NOTTTTTTTTTTTT............. :fyou it all anyhow........ I can't believe you're so against this acquisition HSC. God knows I'm not a fan of KW, but come on..... you don't like this acquisition because he pitches like Fisk caught? Who the f*** cares????? Me and Guido were at a game either last season or 2001 and Bartolo increased his velocity as the game wore on (93-94 in innings 1-4, 96-97 in innings 6-7 or 8). So what if he tanks? All we lost was Liefer (who wasn't going to start for this team anytime soon), Osuna, and Biddle..... Biddle being the only one of the 3 I'd want back if offered the opportunity to take one back. Stop it already.....
-
Flush would be acquired to replace Osuna in the pen..... JMHO. Who will replace Biddle? Easy..... whoever's the cheapest FA pitcher out there right now or maybe a minor leaguer.
-
You shouldn't use the words "World Series" and refer to the Sox's at the same time. We are a much better team with Colon, but come playoff time we'll have our ass handed to us. (i must be coming back down to earth now) Yeah..... after all the excitement over acquiring Colon wears off, reality sets in. Reality sucks!
-
There's still plenty of reasons to bash KW..... although he's earned a temporary reprieve from me. It truly amazes me that one good deal by KW is enough for alot of posters here to forgive all of the bad deals KW has done in the past. KW did good today..... no question. But for this one good move, there are 4-5 real stinkers. KW still owes us 3-4 more deals like this before he even gets to .500. Time will tell. But I agree in part with mac..... time for HSC to at least accept the fact that KW didn't get fleeced on this one. C'mon HSC..... me and RPS didn't think the crow tasted half bad. No matter what you think of Colon or his weight, you have to admit our SP is better today than it was yesterday.
-
Colon has always been a professional. He won 20 games last year overweight..... and that was with the Expos. He's never been a lazy f*** like D Wells. He'll realize the potential this team has and that he is playing for a sweeter contract extension. He'll get back to his optimum pitching weight..... hopefully.
-
Let's worry about that when we get to that point in the road. How can you not be happy about picking up a 20-game winner just on the face?
-
Well..... in your top 3 you have a power pitcher and 2 finesse pitchers (Garland is finesse..... I don't care what anyone says). You gotta go finesse, power, finesse. Thus..... Buehrle, Colon, Garland, Wright and Rauch. I'd put Rauch in the 5 spot simply because the 5 spot is usually where the least amount of pressure is..... unless you've lost 3 of 4 and the 5 spot is going to try and salvage one game for you. Man..... it's nice knowing you have 2 number ones and debating who should be your number one and two.
-
Who cares. Take solice in the fact that the White Sox now have a number 1 and 2 pitcher that..... when healthy..... can go up against any number 1 and 2 pitcher in the league..... possible exception is Johnson and Schilling. KW did real good today.
-
I thought Mariucci also wanted out of SF? Who knows. Who cares. Too bad we don't have a professional football team that axes a head coach after losing in the playoffs! DOH!
