  1. That nickname was given to them 30 + years ago. I haven't heard anyone refer to the Cowboys as that in quite awhile. Yeah, the Cowboys have their share, but so does almost every other professional sports team at one time or another.
  2. You know what Molto? I give credit where credit is due. KW made a huge deal for us today. Even though I didn't think it would ever happen, I always said I'd be happy if it did. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face when I heard on the SCORE that it was official. I also COULDN'T WAIT to get home to be ribbed and jeered by those who always kept hope alive that this deal would happen. I didn't think it would. JR is still a cheap f*** and if this move would have added payroll (Sox are still lower, at this point, than they were in 2002), I STILL doubt JR would have let KW pull it off. But as a Sox fan, I have to "eat my crow" today..... although I will be doing it with a huge smile on my mugg and renewed anticipation for 2003.
  3. Rios wont be starting in our outfield but hes a great backup and if Gordon recovers hell be devastating in the pen. KWs suddenly transformed into Billy Beane! Whoa! Our rivals in the ALC are probably going nuts right now... Good day to be a Sox fan
  4. Do I give KW credit for getting Bartolo Colon for relatively nothing? Hell yeah I do. Glad to see we weren't the ones getting fleeced for once. But..... AND THIS IS A BIG BUT..... let's not all go and suck KW's dick just yet. This is the best deal of his GM tenure by far, but this deal doesn't make up for the K-layton acquisition, the Ritchie deal, the Durham trade, etc. Maybe some of the posters are right in stating that KW is perhaps growing into the position of GM. I fully plan on giving KW a tip-of-the-hat at SoxFest. Thank you KW!!!!! As for JR? He can still go f*** himself. Even with acquiring Colon, the payroll is still below that of 2002.
  5. Knowing full well that JR will never spring for a longterm contract for a Colon and knowing KW is a schmuck, all I'm excited about is SoxFest and the fact that the pitchers and catchers report for ST in about a month. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see Colon coming over here.
  6. I remember that one too. I reference that game quite alot to describe the kind of pitcher that JG could be. Too bad JM didn't let him finish that one out. He deserved the CG.
  7. They're assembling a pretty good team for their move to D.C.
  8. We got Eldred in that deal too. He had a career year in 2000 for the White Sox.

    Soxfest

That would be very nice of you. I am seriously considering not going to any White Sox games in 2003 after this Organization's pathetic work, so far, this offseason. I just really have a problem spending money now knowing that this team will do nothing to improve the team and fan relations. You said the same s*** last year. you cant stay away. It's like a disease. I know. I'm like a f***ing crackhead looking for my next hit.

    Dammit!

RPS IS HAVING BROWSER IMPOTENCY!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! I'm never impotent! Want me prove it Virgin????? All he'll need is 10 seconds to rock your world Heather
  11. With 5 lbs Baggio? I gotta party with you man. LOL
  12. Well..... it's just MHO, but since the Bears have shown an utter lack for evaluating talent when drafting ANY player on the offensive side of the ball (the biggest culprits being McNown and Salaam), the Bears should focus on trading or dealing for a QB that has shown that he can actually WIN a game in the NFL..... although Stewart wouldn't be on my list.
  13. I was going to say JV will realize he's not a power hitter when Ray Durham does. LOL!
  14. If you are kinda saying nice about KW, I'd have to agree. I know a lot of people are really riled by him, and I am not exactly overjoyed by him, but I think he is still coming into his own as anyone does in a position life this. I think he will ok. As long as he never does anything as stupid as Schueler (sign Navarro over Clemems) I will like him. I'm just gonna stir the pot and ask here cwsox..... How long do we give KW before KW fans and those on the fence (like yourself) declare KW an imbecile and complete and utter failure as a GM?
  15. At least we still have Adkins!!!!! Pfft.....
  16. Directions to the Manhole in the 44th district? *tisk tisk* 44th district???????? Where the hell is that? Why? You interested RPS????? LOL!
  17. If it's in Illinois, you're an adult at age 17..... according to the courts..... so he'll be charged as an adult. He's gonna be looking a County jail time no doubt. Whether he'll go to Stateville, Marion, or the like depends on his record. Look, your friend is a dumb asshole for having that much pot in the first place. 5 lbs? He's doing alot more than smoking it and, depending how he got caught, he might be looking at a possible additional charge of manufacture and/or intent to deliver/sale. The fact that he's a "good kid" who "graduated from school a year early" will have little bearing on the court based on the amount he had. Do the crime..... better be able to do the time. Tell your friend to invest in "chastity shorts" like Leslie Nielsen's in The Naked Gun movies..... he's probably gonna need them.
  18. Appreciate the link Cali. But..... The Sporting News is now added to the same list that Gammons is on..... IMHO.
  19. That was Labor Day 2001., September 3. We had quite a group at Comiskey - HSC, hotsoschildMiguel, hotsoxchildTonio, awesome, GUG, joeybatters, Jason Buehrle, and others that I cannot think of off hand, but probably the largest tailgate of the year, and I'd have to dig out the scorecard because it was one of those games where I got everyone to autograph my scorecard. iMadman, hoosiere, and imadmanson were there too as I recollect. I mean it was just everybody we possibly could find for a Labor Day blowout. The game went as you said. We were down 6-0 and we started incessently cheering and the tides changed and we won 19-11 We were sitting behind home plate, thanks to GUG, the large group of us and we just had a wild time, one of the most fun games ever. There was a great picture taken of Joey, HSC and HSCMiguel and HSCTonio, and me before the game which makes me cry when I look at it, such a great picture, and that was Monday, September 3rd, 2001. 8 days later our innocence and baseball as it were was all shattered by September 11th. I email that picture with the caption, "in happier times" since it recalls one of the those last moments when our biggest concerns were the Tribe and the Twins, not terrorists. Myself, Guido, RPS, and one of our favorite SOUTHSIDE bartenders, Dennis, were also at that game. It was a Sunday though I think. Tribe led 6-0 either at the end of half-an-inning or the end of one-and-a-half but the White Sox lit up Burba for, I think 8, in the bottom half of whatever inning the Indians scored their 6 in. Man was I drunk that day. Me and Guido were drinking Becks with breakfast at the tailgate and by first pitch, we were crunked. After the Indians scored 6, figuring it would be a long day, we drank more. And after the Sox scored 8, we drank even more cause now it was party time! A high scoring game meant a long game, so beer was plentiful before being cut off by the 7th Inning Stretch. We all went to RPS's dad's house for some brats and more beer at a neighborhood bar later that night. A fun day with good friends that I still remember to this day.
  20. IF they make the playoffs it will be another 3-and-out with the team, as is, right now.
  21. This, of course, would be assuming the White Sox Organization had an owner that was committed to winning and a GM worthy of the title. Since the Sox have neither, the above scenario is wishful thinking.
