Former Sox still have something to play for.
CubKilla replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There are. I know of 2 or 3 non-sports talk related stations having Cub Playoff Parties around the Unfriendly Confined next week. But printing the playoff tickets all the way back in April is kind of a Cub hallmark. We should get a group together here and attend if it does become a Cubby Pity Party . I hope they f***ing choke just so I can, to quote the great Lee..... "shove it up the ass of" all my asshole Cub fan friends. -
Boys and girls..... this is what you're dealing with when you begin an exchange with Apu. And I have issue with that statement anyway. Are you telling me on September 10th, 2001 that you would have supported the shooting down of American civilians BEFORE a terrorist act had been committed? As sad as it is, I don't think the American public would have understood the downing of a civilian jet liner, until AFTER one of them had been used as a weapon. Up until this point, as we had was intelligence that said this was POSSIBLE. But then again we had intelligence that said Iraq had WMD, and we weren't supposed to trust that, but based on those same agencies intel, we were supposed to kill 300 innocent civilians, is that what you are saying Apu? And without knowing FOR SURE what the results would have been, you would have supported the Bush Admin, in this action? You can't look at that incident in Sept 12, 2001 eyes. Hindsight is not appropriate in a world changing occurance. Or what if Bush had the FBI round up all 19 hijackers on 09/10 based solely on non-specific intelligence without a search warrant because search warrants are not issued based on conjecture and hear-say. You have to have probable cause that a crime did or was about to occur for a judge to issue a search warrant . Guess who would have been sceaming about Bush's racist "Gestapo" tactics ?

Hate to break the news to you double, but this happens no matter who is in office. You don't say?

What would the ex-Sox factor be? Finally waking up and starting to play after leaving the southside? I guess. Kind of like the ex-Cub factor did . -

Don't worry. You won't have to. It'll go to some 7th generation welfare applicant with 4 kids at the age of 18 who obviously never heard of government funded (i.e. Taxpayer paid for) birth control available at the government funded (i.e. Taxpayer paid for) family planning clinic because who needs birth control when rubbers take away all the feeling AND when the government actually awards you more money in welfare and food stamps in proportion to the number of welfare children you have all the while being able to go out and buy your little welfare babies Air Jordans, FuBu, Girbaud's, etc., because the blue collar working man is paying for all this s*** and you don't because the government is paying for everything else (food, shelter, school, meals at school, utilities, etc.) that you require to live like it's owed to you. You college students are so naive and so easily brain-washed I find it laughable.

The ex-Cub factor has been detrimental to the sCrUBS this week. Vizcaino had a PH 2-RBI single to help Houston defeat SF on Wednesday and Van Poppel got the win over his ex-teammates in Cincinnatti yesterday. Now..... hopefully we get to see a taste of an ex-Sox factor. GO PIRATES! GO ASTROS! -
Now that would be karma coming back to bite you in the ass

You can't joke about stuff like that with liberal lefty college know-it-alls. Out of 1,100 some registered member here, there are 10 far left liberals, all of college age..... and cwsox. 11 that I can come up with out of 1,100. Wait till they enter the working world and get a taste of real life.

Like the old saying..... shove a lump of coal in his ass and he'll s*** out a diamond.

From what I heard, if Sunday is a must-win, Oswalt is getting the start.

Clement has been pushed back a day. Prior is starting against Fogg tomorrow. Dusty got his finger on the panic button. -
Isn't that when the playoffs start? Why wait? Do it Monday. Or Sunday after the final out of the season is made.

yet another guy who refuses to play for us. Not to mention the guys on our team who refuse to play for us! D'OH!

The enormous gap between what US leaders do in the world and what Americans think their leaders are doing is one of the great propaganda accomplishments of the dominant political mythology. --Michael Parenti CK have you been watching a bit too much of the FOX News Channel? This quote, I will not disagree with Apu. Kinda like Jack Nicholson's rambling about Guantanamo Bay and what US Citizens don't know about our security in "A Few Good Men."

I believe the Terrorist Cell that has plead guilty to the Govt. charges caught in Buffalo earlier this year was nabbed due, in part, to the Patriot Act. And dude, if you ain't planning on blowing up a govt building, a military target, a civilian target, or hijack a plane and/or fly it into a building..... you have nothing to worry about. You spew your propagandists drivel on this board and Bush's Gestapo hasn't come to your house and taken you away indefinitely for "questioning." So, CK you find nothing wrong with the PATRIOT Act and the new provisions Bush wants to add? If they all get added this is what it means: Subpoena power for cops Ability to search without warrants for cops on "suspicion" instead of probable cause If find out about the search, it's illegal to tell anybody Arrest and mandatory no bail Being held for an undisclosed amount of time without contact to family & lawyers Secret closed military tribunals with no lawyer for the defendent and Bush gets the decision on giving the death penalty [Oh yeah, the punishable crimes by death are also going to vastly increase] You don't find that the least bit antithetical to a free and open democracy? Nothing's perfect. I never said the Patriot Act was. If you are a criminal in the "classic sense" that we think of a criminal, then police aren't going to invoke the Patriot Act by detaining and questioning a, for example, drug dealer or murderer. Trust me, police will still have to prove their case in front of a judge or magistrate to get a search warrant and any detention of a suspect will be scrutinized for legality (probable cause, Miranda Rights, etc). Bet on it. The Patriot Act is designed for those that would fly planes into a civilian building, set off a "dirty bomb", plan a suicide bombing, etc. You're safe Apu. Nobody is coming to get you.

I know enough to know that, without the United States and our policies, this world would be much worse off than it currently seems. And regardless of what the United States' policies are, our $$$$$ is what matters to countries like Brazil..... not our politics.
-
All Brazil has is beaches and rainforest. We don't need any of that s***. We have plenty of our own beaches .
-
You and Apu ahould meet up for beers and talk politics one day. You're both utterly clueless.
-
Hate us and our prosperity and might all you want. Without the United States, the entire world will become "3rd World". And don't hate us because we run the world. It's how God intended.

Too bad these players passion for JM couldn't be translated into their on-field play. I don't think it is so much JM than it is the country club lifestyle JM allows to occur in the clubhouse win or lose.
-
This team with the core players has been a .500 () team for 3 1/2 years now. Of course, I think alot of that has to do with the idiots running things. But 3 1/2 years of mediocrity means the players have to shoulder some of the blame. Not all..... just some. Blow it up. Make trades for minor leaguers and young, up-and-coming talent. The only players I'd like to see back next season are..... STARTING PITCHERS ELo Buehrle Garland Colon (but I know this isn't going to happen) BULLPEN Marte Gordon Wunsch Schoeneweis (will probably get a shot at starting though with no 5th starter) POSITION PLAYERS Olivo Crede C Lee Everett (but I know this isn't going to happen) Maggs Rowand Graffenino Thomas or Konerko (Organization needs to choose between the two) Everybody else can take a hike. However, I am weary of dealing for anyone with the gullible GM we have and KW SHOULD NOT be allowed any dealing with Billy Beane. EVER!
-
And I'm predicting the sun will set in the west just like I predicted in July that this team wouldn't make the postseason in '03 with JM as the manager. If I was KW, I would have fired JM on 05/25 after losing 2 of 3 to Detroit..... one of those losses being 1-0.
