White Sox peripherally make news for Cub Hating
Would anyone give a s*** if a Mets-affiliated bar ran promotions against the Yankees? Or is just because the Cubs are so damn "loveable"?

White Sox peripherally make news for Cub Hating
QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) If we're all as smart of fans as we think we are, we should be cheering for the Cubs to win it all. Yes, I said it. We should still hate them at the same time. Confused? Don't be. This White Sox Organization has been sitting back and lazily throwing the same crap at the wall since we won in 2005. We were hungry after the town got Cubs fever in the 90s and early 2000s. That hunger brought us a World Series. The lack of hunger has brought up Gordon Beckham. Twice. Adam Dunn. Twice. Sorry, correction - Adam Dunn and Adam LaRoache aka Adam Dunn 2.0. We are currently wasting the primes of 3 amazing baseball players at the top 5 at their respective positions in the world. Chris Sale, Jose Abreu, and David Robertson are amazing talents and would be quite possibly top 3 at their positions in the right city/situation if they aren't already. What has this White Sox Organization given you as a fan the last 5 years that makes you happy? Not much. Although I am excited about Carlos Rodon! As White Sox fans we pride ourselves in showing up when the team deserves our hard earned money. Making them earn it is our reputation. They simply haven't of late. It's a pleasure to watch some of the starting pitchers throw, we can't take that away from them, but outside of that and Jose... The future doesn't have to be dark. We have some top talent. We have some other pieces. We need to make some radical changes, yes. We need the hunger back. The Chicago Cubs winning the World Series might do it. The Chicago Sports media would be more Cubs heavy than ever before, which is fine. I don't want to hear any more from the White Sox until changes are made. REAL changes. Fairweather White Sox fans (and yes, we have them too) would head to the blue side. Fans of baseball that enjoy winning in the city might head north a lot more. Young fans will be choosing blue over white and black. The White Sox are losing more than just baseball games, they are losing a revenue battle in a highly competitive industry of business. A Chicago Cubs title will be a miserable thing to tolerate as a White Sox fan. It won't be fun. It won't make your life better...right now. However, if it brings upon radical and necessary changes to the Chicago White Sox organization, bring it on. I can take it. I've taken 10 seasons of crap since our White Sox won the series. I can deal with Cubs fans gloating about a World Series, because I know what it feels like. Just smile and nod and tell them "Welcome to the club." I highly doubt a Cubs World Series would bring the necessary changes. If anything, making our front office panic would be a bad thing, because they'd be more likely to make desperate moves and take unnecessary risks that will just set us back further. We didn't win a World Series in '05 because the Cubs were close in '03, that's a stretch.

And one of the comments there calls them "traitors to Chicago" and not true Chicagoans. Get f***ed.

Blue Jays vs Rangers Series thread
QUOTE (shysocks @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) Pete Rose made a bunch of dumbs*** comments during the KC-HOU broadcast about Donaldson getting a bump on the head and having to leave the game, "he's the MVP??", he passed the concussion test so (in d-bag tone) "he'll be fine", how Rose had about 15 concussions when he played and he kept going out there, blah blah blah. Yeah asshole, you also messed up a guy's career by colliding with him in an exhibition game. You're the King of Toughness, we get it. Why do networks keep letting these idiots on TV? If you keep going out and playing after so many concussions, I'm going to think you're an idiot, not a tough guy.

The bar is just having some fun, I don't see what the big deal is.

My/Your Off Season Plan
Why does everyone keep saying the Cubs need pitching? They led the MLB in pitching WAR this year, and that's before they sign a top SP this offseason.
-
Blue Jays vs Rangers Series thread
Rangers take Game 1, already read some comments elsewhere that this performance might drop Price's price tag in the offseason. People love to overreact.

My/Your Off Season Plan
If you would do something "in a heartbeat" then it's likely the other team wouldn't.

Blue Jays vs Rangers Series thread
Price gives up another home-run. In 6 ALDS starts he now has an ERA over 5.

Cubs-Cards NLDS
Was asked by my boss today why I couldn't cheer for the Cubs so that my Cub fan friends could be happy. He says "So you want them to be miserable the rest of their lives?"

Blue Jays vs Rangers Series thread
Bam. 4-1 Rangers, Price hasn't looked good aside from the 2nd inning.

2-1. First run scored by the home team in the playoffs so far.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) Anybody hate this series as much as I do? It is a lose lose situation for me I know I'll be cheering against the winner in the NLCS no matter who it is.

Price looking really wild so far, not a fan of giving a guy that much rest, it's clearly affecting him.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) Go Cubs Go is the song you would write if you were locked in a room for a year and forced to listen to Jimmy Buffett while watching Cub games. To be fair, as much as that song sucks the Go Go White Sox song isn't much better.

Cubs-Cards NLDS
QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) 9 straight Cubs starters have not allowed a homer in their outing. Seems like quite the fluke stretch of pitching they're getting. Middle of the pack in flyball and groundball rate over that period too, so it's not like they're suppressing flyballs.

2015 Playoff Predictions
I want the Cubs to lose but the baseball fan in me kind of wants to see Arrieta face the Blue Jays lineup and see if they can solve him.

2015 Playoff Predictions

Cubs-Cards NLDS
The annoying thing about this series is we get to hear about how great the rivalry is between these two teams, yet in the last 70 years both teams have been over .500 in the same season all of 14 times. By comparison, the Red Sox and Yankees have both been over .500 in the same season 43 times over the same time period. If one of the rivals is usually terrible, it's not a great rivalry.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) What about the last 9 years doesn't scream "desperation"? Look at where the Astros and Cubs are now. I love how a lot of the chronic complainers act like we've averaged 95 losses over the last decade. Boo freaking hoo, it hasn't been that bad.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) For all the broken record comments I get, I have ACTUALLY been broken recording this for a long time. The Sox need a complete rebuild and there is no good reason not to rebuild. Yeah there is, you'd be throwing away 4-5 seasons with no guarantees that you'll be any better off. It only makes sense if you are in a truly desperate situation, which despite all your wailing is not the case here.

2015 Wild Card Games
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:05 PM) F the Cardinals and Cubs. Worst series ever in terms of rooting interest +1. As much as I don't want the Cubs to advance, it's getting quite boring seeing the damn Cardinals in the NLCS every year.
