I missed the end of the game but saw on the box score that he finished it out....how did he look? 1 K and no hits I see...Jace is usually good when he throws strike 1 if I remember correctly.
-
Looking at other scores and didn't realize Boston is playing Seattle...very interesting.
-
Could've been alot worse. Any chance Fry gets the 5th?
-
I sure remember and it wasn't too long ago that the 2017 draft looked like a complete bust.

I'm in the please don't trade Sheets in the offseason camp.

I thought it was Pat

I'm thinking that Luis Robert contract extension was one hell of a bargain.
-
Also not listening to the game but that sounds cringeworthy.

I guess they are going to keep sending him out there but come playoff time I don't see how you don't put Leury out there if Cesar keeps giving you nothing at the plate.
-
His GranGran gave it to him....it's a very sweet story...Jason will tell you about it in the 3rd.
-
No worse than cleaning out his spittoon after games.
-
I fully expect Jace Fry to come up and surprise us and dominate like Lopez has....it's been a strange year so why not.
-
A very funny man...RIP Norm.

Fastball: Sits 90-93; sinks it low; modest arm-side run; predominantly flat elsewhere in the zone. Draws weak contact in the lower third; barrel magnet when he tries to elevate. Deception slightly pads quality; modest velocity and movement profile will give him smaller margin for error at the big league level. Grade: 45 Curveball: Often lacks target zone velocity, sitting around 74-76. Inconsistent arm speed, release point and follow through. Shows sharp 1/7 break at its best; decent amount of slow rolling hangers up in the zone. Backdoors it to steal strikes and works it low as a spike pitch. Swing and miss is more so a product of pitchability than raw stuff. Grade: 45 Changeup: Above-average offering; optimal velo separation at 80-83. Features late tumble and solid arm-side fade. Maintains arm speed; thrown with conviction; shows confidence utilizing the pitch in FB counts. Elicits weak contact and swing and miss from both LHB and RHB. Grade: 55 Control and Command: Crafty southpaw with advanced pitchability. Impressive control; pounds the zone with quality strikes; sequences well, avoiding predictable patterns and locations. Actively attacks the edges of the plate; gives up loud well barreled shots in the heart of the zone. Above-average command of FB and CH; CB command significantly lags behind. Control: 60 | Command: 55 Name: Extremely Stupid. Grade: 25

The Sox can beat anyone. They can also lose to anyone.
wegner replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have had a feeling for awhile that if the Sox make it out of the 1st round, they will win the American League pennant. No idea if they can beat whoever comes out of the NL but I'd sure like to see them try. It is exciting to be able to see playoff baseball on the Southside for the 2nd year in a row. This really has been a crazy year with all the injuries. This is just the first year of the window...if they win it all this season, terrific...but they should be set for awhile. -
It's great to have a gamethread again. Those off days are like a day without sunshine.

Crochet's W-L record would probably be better.

League directive??

I hate the Yankees but the Bluejays are scaring me a little bit....how about Oakland and Seattle go on a run and take those 2 wildcards??

I have come to expect Luis to make all the plays so I was surprised he did not make it...but that ball was crushed and that is on Kimbrel. I was just remembering how much trouble Luis had with walls late last season...he is still just so young and will continue to get better out there which is scary for the rest of the league.

Thanks. It is Puzzling. Well he seems like a fantastic return on what I believe was an intial $50,000 investment. I hope to see him on the Southside in a couple or few years. Congratulations to Jose.

Granted I suck at soxmath but how does he have the following scouting grades and not have an overall score of 50? Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 50 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 45

Get in line The Indians and Cubbies screwed us at the deadline. My apologies to Tepera however for saying he sucked when he first got here ?

I wonder if they are hoping that Cespedes will be ready to push for an OF spot next season?
