  1. I wonder if the prognosis on Teel is worse than expected, and they want him to DH everyday and really ease back into catching.
  2. Soldier Field is in an AWFUL location. It can't be overstated how bad the experience is getting in and out of there.
  3. Rich coming from Idaho. Regional deals are dead by 2030.
  4. This is such a dead horse. Not going to explain again why they wouldn't move, but you have nothing to worry about.
  5. But the state isn't building them new stadiums. They're paying for the infrastructure that their responsible for to turn empty, non-tax revenue generating land into tax revenue generating land. Would you rather Arlington Park and The 78 just sit empty with nothing happening on them, not contributing anything? I guess from your position on your couch in Idaho it doesn't matter and this isn't about anything more than sports, but at least try to look at the big picture a bit.
  6. You think it's the Bears job to widen 53? You can't be this stupid.
  7. Retro parks that are built are here to stay, that doesn't mean new ones will be built. Marlins Park is very much not retro, it was supposed to usher in the postmodern era.
  8. What from my post would make you believe I think that? Yes, MLS is a minor league, because the owners continue to make it one.
  9. If they sell ~15k upper deck tickets to a game, they absolutely will check.
  10. NASL's big problem was they over extended themselves. They got too big too quickly and didn't have a salary cap or anything to keep player costs from getting inflated beyond levels the teams could afford. MLS has gone the opposite route, moving very slowly to open up spending rules, which at this point is a detriment to its growth in popularity, since it's clearly seen as well below the other soccer that's readily available (Premier League, UCL, La Liga, etc.) Soccer as a whole is probably #4 as it stands, when you consider viewership of everything nationwide, including the Mexican league which is huge in that community. But MLS remains light-years behind the NHL and won't get close until they open up spending and really compete with Europe, to draw the Eurocentric viewers who look down at it.
  11. You can't have 31 teams. There is no next team, there is only the next 2 teams. The Sox aren't moving. Unless the Rays go to one of these places, expansion is their only option.
  12. It's not the Suns guy, it's his BROTHER!! And if he wanted to buy a team for cheap to move, he'd have bought the Twins. He's willing to wait 9 more years because he wants CHICAGO. Get a fucking clue.
  13. Lease ends. Has to mean the park deal is in place and will open within that 4 year window.
  14. No coincidence that 2033 is the 100th anniversary of the All Star Game.
  15. I think they might have meant it would only cost the state $400 million.
  16. Most of the old stadiums in England were built as individual 'stands', or sides. And that allows them to expand by tearing down and rebuilding 1 side at a time. Liverpool's Anfield is a great example of this: Any new stadium is just copying that design for aesthetics.
  17. The soccer stadium isn't going to have a view of anything outside except the sky. It will be closed on every side with a canopy covering all the seats (at least, based on the rendering).
  18. This is very reassuring. While there was room for 2, my worry was that with the Sox dragging their feet, maybe Related would say screw it and put the soccer stadium in the middle of the property and leave them out.
  19. https://dearchicago.com/ Today, we’re proud to announce our plans for a new, privately funded, soccer-specific stadium and entertainment district at Roosevelt and the river. We expect to open in Spring 2028. This new home for the Chicago Fire Football Club will anchor the city’s future 78th neighborhood and serve as a catalyst for job creation, economic development and vibrant community life.
  20. If you thought the Sox were irrelevant now, go ahead and move them to the south suburbs. Absolutely brutal idea, and that's coming from someone who grew up 5 miles from the venue.
  21. I was talking about the ballpark, not Soldier Field. Also, why are you quoting something from 2 months ago?
  22. None of this probably matters by the time the next owners are in charge.
