Ownership Change Will Result In . . .
The bar is so low. 4 postseason appearances (2020 excluded) since the 3 division format began 30 years ago, so 8 trips to the LDS in 30 years, to make it even in the current format, would have to be considered dramatic improvement. That said, it's about process more than results. The Mets don't have a ton to show for in the Cohen era, but they have reasons to be excited. Indicators of 'success' beyond W/L I'm hoping to see from new ownership: 1) New Ballpark 2) Top 10 payroll regularly 3) Major player in FA 4) Vastly improved minor league development I just wanna be excited again, damnit!

Arlington Heights making stadium pitch to White Sox?
The Rangers have only ever played in Arlington (unless you count the time they were named the Washington Senators).

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
You said it's "because of the tax hit if he sells while alive." Now it's all about ego. Make up your fucking mind.

He can still give up control without selling his stake to lessen the tax burden. The same thing happened when the Orioles were sold.

They're just buying time until the CBA expires. Don't expect any big investment in the roster next offseason, either.

Arlington Heights making stadium pitch to White Sox?
For real. You act like because he didn't build in Hinsdale or Burr Ridge that he doesn't want to own a south side team. GMAFB

Arlington Heights making stadium pitch to White Sox?
What free stadium in Nashville? Their government has said they have no money to give, they spent everything on the Titans new stadium. They're not moving to Nashville, let's get that idea out of our collective heads.

New City-Connects: Bulls / Sox collab
I can't get over how bad these are, if real. Just a total copout by the SOX and Nike. We're supposed to be celebrating the 125th anniversary of a charter AL franchise, and you're going to put out this garbage copying another team in town. Unacceptable.

There's a lot more up here than you might think. Doesn't matter, though, this is never gonna happen.

Looks like he was there in the 2nd, as well. https://x.com/CHSN_WhiteSox/status/1905360257032855973?t=qqDBamqMyLwsthFuEmqugw&s=19

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
I checked back and it was the 5th inning. MLB.tv won't let me screenshot, just shows a black screen, but if you have it and can watch it back he walks in at 1:18:49. He's in a white shirt and has a child with him. I know what he looks like but didn't know he had such a big gut, lol.

Yeah, sat down in the front row of the scout seats for less than a half inning.

Look who just sat down right behind the plate.

Passan address current challenges with TB/A's stadium situations, cites Sox and Royals predicaments
They still lose money since they collect no rent when the team doesn't draw. The agreement also guarantees the state will pay for upgrades if they fall into the bottom 3rd of baseball in something, that's why the state had to pay for a new videoboard. It's a shitty deal for the state, that's not debatable.

And? Times have changed.

Opening Day Thursday 3:10 p.m. versus Angels (not the game thread, lol) Who's going???
This is such a tired, lazy argument. It's a high of 53. 8 days later, the Cubs open to a high of 52. 7 days after that, it's a high of 46. I'll never forget 2020, the day that would've been the 1st Saturday home game was beautiful, I was so depressed to not be there. A week later...snow. 2 years ago, the Sox played Baltimore on 4/15 and my wife and I got sunburned in the bleachers. A week later, they were freezing their asses off on the north side. Chicago weather is unpredictable, waiting a week for the home opener is pointless. Waiting 2 weeks is pointless, too, and the league would never do that and risk a team being 2-10 or something for their home opener.

Terrible, if true. At least the hat would hopefully be better, not a fan of the CHI hat.

The issue is the lease is ending, and the current deal is horrible for the state, so they're not going to be too keen on simply extending the team-friendly agreement.

What do you stream with? It's on Roku and Amazon Fire, so maybe just buy one of those devices?

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
I think this very well could be it. Let's face it, the team is facing 2 more years of ugly, which will be followed by a very ugly 2027 (lockout is pretty much unavoidable). The timing makes sense for the handoff to occur late in 2027, once the financial structure of the game has changed, and then they probably break ground on a new ballpark very shortly after to be ready to open 2030.

None of it matters. All of these percentages are still of shares that JR controls the voting power of. That's how the limited partnership is set up, and it's like that until either JR concedes power or dies.

They have no actual local TV deal, since they're one of the teams Diamond pulled out of. That is a fairly recent development, so might have had some affect once he had a chance to dig into the books. https://www.mlb.com/news/twins-broadcasts-distributed-by-mlb-2025

I disagree, think it's very underrated. Maybe the nicest concourses of the 11 current parks I've been to, very spacious and a great view of the field from anywhere. Very walkable park, fun place to wander around to different areas. Lots of variety in the seating options as well, I really like the home run porch and the covered bleachers in left. And home field advantage barely exists in baseball, if at all.
