New City-Connects: Bulls / Sox collab

Featured Replies

My apologies if this was covered in a different post...this popped up on my Facebook account...hadn't seen anything about this until now.  Hope it isn't true.  I know whether a person likes/dislikes a look is a personal/relative thing...but I LOVE our City-Connect look!  I fear that whatever they come-up with can't meet the standard of our "current" City-Connect unis!  Anyone else hear this?

Padres are dumping their controversial City Connect jerseys after 2025...

"The San Diego Padres are officially retiring their pink-and-mint City Connect uniforms after the 2025 season. The team revealed on Friday that the popular uniforms will be discontinued beginning in 2026, per Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times."

Why dump such a popular look?  Kids these days  with their "limited edition" attraction!  LOL...my son is a Padres fan and this will crush him!

Could be something as simple as wanting to replace City Connect jerseys every five years...in order to re-energize sales.

White Sox CC jerseys debuted in 2021...Padres in 2022.

Originally the Sox Southside jerseys were a partnership with Nike.

That would make sense.  I get that turning uniform styles/designs over creates more buyers who want the new look...but our SouthSide stuff is all-time great in my opinion!  Especially stacked up against some the ridiculous looks the City-Connect stuff has produced.

I like our jerseys but they certainly are made more for players. The avg fan wearing one is a tough look!

I'm hoping for shorts.

It's not up to the Sox. Getting forced upon all these teams. Actually this whole batch of teams are all at the top for best uniforms (except Boston...). Good news is we get 5 uniforms. Home, away and new ccs will be three of them. Can still keep the old city connects in the rotation.

What is controversial about them?

Every team gets them every three years.

EDIT: or at least that’s the plan. There have been some audibles for some high profiles flops like the first dodgers release.

The intent was not to compete with the traditional, historic, standard, uniforms. These were to be dessert, temporary, throw away, icing on the cake, as permanent as a first spouse, special occasion, uniform.

Oh yeah, and to make money. I probably should have listed that first.

Yeah the Sox could just keep the old ones as regular uniforms and still have the new ones and a whole other slot open.

I love the current Southside city connect jerseys.  I have my #88 that I wear out and about.

Good god.  That is hideous.  I don’t remember this one at all but retiring it is a great idea.  But I just had to post this pic of everyone’s favorite in this uniform…

It's popular somehow but one of the more controversial ones...fits better with Miami perhaps.

I wouldn't mind seeing a homage to the lake front. The citizens of Chicago were blessed when the Montgomery Ward fought to keep the lakefront open for everyone. Burnham for his planning.

Dead smelt would be appropriate currently, but maybe someone nicer.

I never cared for the old ones so I'm good with a change.

Thank you. I thought I was the only one.

Terrible, if true. At least the hat would hopefully be better, not a fan of the CHI hat.

Looks like a softball uniform mixed with 1983.

I don't hate them. A bit beer league softballish, but they look good. I was always luke warm on the old ones. Looked good on certain players, dumb on others. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing one tbh.

I'm a big fan of the 83 uniforms, so this is cool.

Nope, too ghetto.

I especially didn't like the font.

I liked those San Diego ones. One of the few city connects that actually felt fun and creative.
