This too.  I believe only one brother was mentioned previously

Thanks for sharing.  Do we think this is new news, or is it the previous news being reported again?

No idea. But seems odd the reporter would list them as co-owners with Year purchased: 1981, 2025 for the team. @Lip Man 1 you have anyone you know at CNBC or Michael Ozanian himself?

Cool, can they convince him to stop being awful and RUINING MY LIFE.

Why do you think he has lived this long?  He feeds off our hate and suffering.

Sorry I can't help you there.

This is some new information but remember it was just last week where Nightengale (who is the only media member JR speaks to) in his Sunday column clarified that despite the new minority owners he isn't selling nor giving up any control of the day to day operations.

Not clear to me that this represents new information rather than sloppy reporting. I assume they're using Ishbia's recent purchases as justification for the valuation, is all.

Maybe it IS happening but JR is just downplaying it because he doesn’t want to be asked the question non-stop and be badgered by the media?

Nightengale just parrots whatever JR tells him, and I doubt he always gives him the truth.

He could do what he always does and just ignore the media and fans and never talk to us about anything like, for instance, what the f*** he is currently doing with this team.

True, he likes to have his team issue formal written press releases so he doesn’t have to face the media, even though our Chicago sports media is too cowardly to challenge him.

From the Sun-Times:

A Sox spokesperson said a CNBC report listing brothers Justin and Mat Ishbia alongside Jerry Reinsdorf as controlling owners of the team is inaccurate.

The Athletic recently reported Justin Ishbia, who with his brother owns the NBA’s Suns, planned to increase his existing minority stake in the Sox and to abandon a pursuit to purchase the Twins.

In its valuations of major-league franchises Friday, CNBC incorrectly reported the Ishbias as Sox co-owners.

Sad but thanks for the real news.

This is all just like updating a Wikipedia page...someone at that site simply made an assumption or educated guess and perhaps it turned out to be inaccurate.

Although one might reach the conclusion JR will deny anything until the bitter end.

I mean, they are clearly co-owners of the White Sox.  Controlling interesting is a no until they agree to some deal with Jerry.  But in all honesty, they probably have larger absolute stakes in the team right now than he does.

There has to be be a better alternative than a greedy private equity/corporate raider.  Hopefully Michael Reinsdorf and Mellody Hobson will hold firm and send Ishbia looking for another short term investment opportunity.

Hopefully this gets wrapped up before kyle tucker is a free agent

Are you a Reinsdorf?  Because if not, I have no idea how you’d want the boob that is Michael running the team.  He’s a death sentence on the Bulls for the foreseeable future…let’s the hope the Reinsdorf-owned White Sox dynasty at least dies with Jerry.

I will also never understand your hatred for Ishbia because of his Private Equity background.  What merit does that have on him owning the Sox?  The reality is he is both rich as f*** and smart as f*** all while living in the Chicagoland area and therefore won’t move the team.  He will almost certainly build a new stadium at the 78 site, so maybe deep down that’s why you hate him so much.

But enough about Jerry.

Tray prefers the owner who made his money via tax shelters and then went on to get taxpayers to pay for his stadium.  Hilarious.

Jerry literally operates with what?

Private equity.

What do you think it means when you get together a bunch of your buddies privately to buy something with non-public funds to operate a company in secret with no public reporting?

It's Private Equity.  By definition it's Private Equity.

Might be of interest.

Wow, so Jerry's clan is actually the majority owner.  That's a big update from 20%.
