  1. I'm pretty sure Hawk just said that the homerun by Ranaudo was the first homer by a major league pitcher this year. I think that's false. Bartolo Colon anyone? I'm sure there have been others as well...maybe I heard him wrong idk.
  2. Does the countdown begin?
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 09:32 PM) This game is currently a convergence of the least likely things ever. +1
  4. LMFAO YESS!!! HAVE A GAME KID!!!
  5. 4 in a row. Keep it going. I really want to believe that this is the real White Sox team we are watching.
  6. If we can consistently get this kind of pitching from Shields and Gonzo, while Sale and Quintana can continue to do their thing, this team has a legitimate shot at making a comeback.
  7. I love the patience. If only the Sox could have offense like this consistently
  8. Ohhhh Saladino should've blasted that 2-0 pitch over that left field wall. Just missed it.
  9. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) I like Saladino here because I at least think it will be a professional at bat The last few at bats have actually been really good ones.
  10. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/191...o-to-face-cubs/ This is a good move by the Sox. Ranaudo deserves this shot.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 10:22 PM) IMO with Arrietta it is all about his command. When he has it, is is almost unhittable, when he doesn't, he is human, I mean, he really wasn't all that great when he was with Baltimore for a few years. I wonder how it just "clicked" for him when he got to Chicago.
  12. Is it just me, or does Adam Eaton look almost just like Arrieta? Also, Eaton has dropped the ball 3 times tonight that I have seen, like he isn't watching the ball into his glove. Not like the Eaton of RF this season.
  13. Gonzalez has pitches really well over the last month. I like him better than Rodon, honestly.
  14. Hawk talking about Chris Sale. "We all snap as athletes. He is a wonderful man until he puts that jockstrap on and goes to the mound, then he becomes a tiger." L.M.A.O.
  15. Who needs Chris Sale when you have Miguel Gonzales? Hehe
  16. Trade him. I don't care if he is the most valuable pitcher in the league. He's acting like a child, has always acted like a child, always wanting his way and when he can't get it he makes a huge deal about it by doing something drastic like a little kid. Remember that game in Detroit when he complained someone was in centerfield stands with binoculars letting Detroit know what pitches he was throwing. What? That's just one of many incidents. This has been going on even BEFORE he was a proven star. Seriously Sale, think before you act. He should be the leader on this ballclub, and instead he embarasses the team. He has caused so much unwanted drama with this organization, he can go somewhere else, (preferably NL). Trade him, get a haul for him, and be done. I'm sick of this literal BS.
  17. Beautiful peace of hitting by Anderson there. Love it.
  18. Just missed that...Eaton owning Pelfrey. Would be nice to see Anderson try to hit it to the right side.
  19. There's some good pitching right there.
  20. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) Sox have four hits in two innings and NO RUNS I've noticed that a lot of the games in which they have lost recently, they have actually had more hits than their opponent but no runs to show for it. The Sox could have 8 hits and zero to two runs while the other team might have 4 or 5 hits and three to five runs.
  21. Story of the season. Runners in scoring position and the first batter pops out, setting up the double play or the other two just strike out or pop out. Here's to hoping I'm wrong though...
  22. Todd should do that more often!!
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) Abreu continues to make no adjustments He used to be able to pull his hands in on those inside fastballs and drive them in the gaps or over the walls. That's part of what made him such a great hitter. No idea why he hasn't been able to do that this year. Still can't believe he only has 11 home runs in late July.
  24. If I am completely honest, I like this team. I do. I like the energy that Adam Eaton and Chris Sale bring. I like the personalities of Todd Frazier, Dioner Navarro, Brett Lawrie, and Melky Cabrera. I love the competitiveness in Sale and Quintana. I like the potential "difference-maker" in rookie Tim Anderson, and the bright future he brings. I like the toughness of Jose Abreu. I also thought we had one of the top 5 pens in the league until those injuries happened. I like this team, I really do. This team has the potential to win. They have the talent, they have (or, at least, had) the drive, they WANT to win. BUT, I think what is holding them back is all mental, and it's like I could feel it right through the t.v. screen. When they went up against Seattle today 3-0, 4-0, I just felt that somehow, someway, the Sox were going to blow it late. It's like an aura that the team gives off, and I think that in the back of their minds lingers that thought "what if we lose this game?" That is not a winner's mentality. That is the mentality of a team that gives up. You just know that Frazier is either going to hit a homerun, or he's going to foul off a couple fastballs down the middle to get it 0-2 before he strikes out on a breaking ball in the dirt. You just know (or at least have the feeling) that Abreu is going to either get jammed on an inside fastball or, like Todd, strike out on a breaking ball away. There's just that "feeling" that you know something negative is going to happen. I remember that feeling back in '05 where you just had a feeling that the Sox were somehow going to win the game, even if they were losing late. Now it's complete opposite. If the team falls behind early (which oftentimes happens), you just know they most likely will not come back (take the recent Anaheim series for example), or if they are winning early you feel they are going to blow it late (take the 2 games in the Seattle series where they blew leads, a series they should have easily swept, or that KC series where they blew leads in all 3 games). Also, it always seems that when the pitching is doing great, the offense is horrendous, and when the offense is actually scoring some runs, the pitching blows it (esp. the bullpen). It really is all mental with this team, from what I see. The more games they drop (especially like the ones today) the less of a chance they have at even contending for that WC spot. I think really this all boils down to one thing: LEADERSHIP, among the players and among the coaches. They need a kick in the ass. Just my take on what is going on. I love the Sox, I really do. I still look forward to games, hoping they will go on a magical 10 game win streak and never look back, but that is quickly fading away. Who knows, maybe they will actually take 3 out of 4 from Detroit and sweep the Cubs next week....HAHA jk.
  25. A nice 10 game win streak would put the team right in the thick of it...that would be so nice.
