7/15/16 White Sox at Angels
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 11:51 PM) At Boston I think. Avi hasn't homered in forever as well Hitting is contagious...as they say.

Just curious...when was the last time Abreu hit a homerun?

Carson Fulmer
Yeah I agree with you guys. Eventually he will be a starter, and the way things are going I think he will be up in the pen by August sometime especially his his numbers keep improving, and whether the Sox are winning or not. If they are winning...great. They will need the pen help and I would rather have Fulmer in there than Ynoa or Beck or Kahnle...etc. If they are losing and out of the race...the experience couldn't hurt even if he gets knocked around a bit or has control issues. If he does indeed make it as a starter, a rotation of Sale, Q, Rodon Shields and Fulmer (by mid 2017?) doesn't look too shabby. There are a lot of "ifs" in that projected rotation, such as Rodon's continued development and Shields' questionable stability, and obviously Fulmer's development, but what rotation doesn't have some questions?

Carson Fulmer
http://www.csnchicago.com/chicago-white-so...wo-futures-game Struck out 2 in the futures game...projecting more as a reliever. With the Sox hurting for relief, maybe this is the time to bring him up? I honestly would hate to see them trade away talent for relief pitching from another team unless that relief is under control for a few years. Looks like Fulmer though isn't going to be a starter, according to his own words in this article anyway. Thoughts? Should they keep him down there a little longer or bring him up now?

for those of you who lament Hawks stupidity...
I love listening to Hawk. Brings me back to my childhood every game when I hear his voice. Not that Benetti is bad, but I prefer Hawk over him (I realize I may be stoned for saying that). Just something about it. I hope Hawk continues to call games as long as he can get around. He may say some stupid stuff sometimes, but you know what, he's been doing this for how long? He can say some stupid stuff if he wants. He basically owns that booth. I love listening to his stories and his baseball insight...and I'm not some 60 y/o, I'm in my twenties.

Tim Anderson
Too early to start talking about rookie of the year for Timmy?? Who would be up against him for the award this year if he is in the running for it at the end?

07/02 GDT Sox at Astros
Frazier and Abreu just cannot layoff breaking pitches in the dirt. They just cannot do it. It's like clockwork.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 04:43 PM) That's the annoying part of the shifts, Anderson looked to have a hit, but instead just a ground out. Yup. The good hitters can place the ball in the holes.

July 1st, 2016 - Chicago White Sox vs. Huston Astros - 7:10
This team just looks lost and dead offensively. No consistency. I want them to win as much as anyone else, but I think it's time to start being realistic. This team will probably float around .500 for the rest of the season.

Gomez is always overdramatic when he hits. I really dislike that.

6/30: White Sox vs Twins
There's a White Sox winner! Nice job by the offense picking up the pitching...even without Melky.

6/30: White Sox vs Twins
Close call with that curve on Anderson. Good thing about that inning was...all of the offense came with 2 out. Let's pray they can continue this vs. Houston.

Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins 6/29/2016, Shields vs Nolasco, 7:
Lots of hitters have had success against Nolasco...Eaton is 6 for 18 against him, Abreu is 4 for 11, Lawrie is 5 for 10, even Avi is 3 for 7. Shuck has 2 hits in 3 atbats against him, and Saladino is 1 for 2 if that means anything. Anyone know what is going on with Melky and his wrist? Is he healthy enough to play? He also has had a lot of success against Nolasco going 8 for 19 against him. Hoping for an offensive breakout tonight.

Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins 6/28/2016
Is this the real White Sox team? I never wanted to believe it, but I think what we see tonight is ultimately what we get. How do you lose 4-0 to the worst team in baseball, against a starter who is 0-5 with an ERA over 6? How is one of your best hitters hitting under.200? I had so much faith in this team, but after tonight, that faith really is gone. I am so tired of seeing someone get on base and the next two or three hitters doing nothing to get the guy in. So awful.

Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins 6/28/2016
This game should be a blowout with that pitching matchup...or at least something like 6-2 victory with Q on the mound and the way the Sox have been hitting of late...although there will be considerably cooler temps today.

Why all of the bunting?
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) When you have an offense that's struggling, you shouldn't be giving up outs and playing for 1 run all the time. It's one thing to do it when you only need 1 run to win in extras or in the 9th, but the Sox have had their #3 hitter bunt before in the 7th inning. If you don't let your best hitter swing the bat, then what's the point? David Ortiz, the Red Sox number 3 hitter and possibly the best hitter in the league, bunted yesterday with TWO out and no one on (granted there was the shift), and nearly beat it out, and it was the first inning. The best offense in the league had their best hitter bunt. The White Sox are not the only team to have their 3 hitter bunt to try to spark something.
-
Why all of the bunting?
With this offense, I would rather see a runner on 1st get bunted over and have one out rather than the hitter ground into a dp, which is likely what would happen. I like the bunt because it forces the defense to make the play, and oftentimes you see mistakes when trying to field a bunt. I would say most people on here don't mind the bunting, its just the ones that don't like it are the ones that are vocal about it.

NOW THAT IS HOW YOU WIN A DAMN BASEBALL GAME. Guys bailing each other out and situational hits (at least toward the end)...let's continue this play.
