Brantley is an overall better hitter and they may want to keep Vaughn down all year.

Yeah but payroll should have increased anyway. If the 40 million is going to raises and the two guys we just signed, there should be more money because we had a lower payroll to begin with.

They have the money to sign a backend starter for a year and two bullpen pieces. 40 million came off the books this offseason and we've signed back 18 so far.

Brantley is a DH now. He may sign a big one year deal to focus on hitting and possibly open up chances in the NL when they approve the DH. I'm not sure he or Nelson Cruz are getting two year deals in this market.

The Nationals rode Eaton's bat to a title. Both of these guys are solid if they perform like they can. I prefer Joc but I see some upside in Eaton IF he can get some of his mojo back here. Liking the Joc or Eaton deal for me would also be contingent on if we sign a quality DH, a second starter, and Hendriks.

Lynn will be our number 2 and Eaton can rebound and be decent. I wanted Bauer or Springer and it is clear we aren't getting them. Eaton is decent as a RF option like all of the other non Springer guys. There are still more moves to be made and we hoped for more, but with a few more moves we can be an AL force.

I mean his team and front office. They know his personality and what he can and can't do. They also know how he performs in our stadium and against our rivals. If he is not the guy, our front office would know this.

I think we need to be a little more patient here. It's best to wait and see how they finish off the roster. I love the Lynn deal, meh on Eaton, and hopeful for Hendriks and a DH. This isn't good enough, but that offseason will do I suppose.

Those moves are fine if you have a legit strong core like you said. Eaton will be our 8th or 9th best player so it makes more sense now.

To be fair the RFs all have some suck to them outside of Springer. If Eaton and Joc got back to 2019 forms they are both solid options. Joc better than Eaton, but still upgrades. There is money for us to spend and we should all expect more moves. Another starters, another DH, and another two quality bullpen pieces.

If I had to guess Hahn wanted Hinch and Joc and Kenny wanted TLR and Eaton.

I hear this Trevor Bauer guy isn't soft and would have an AJ effect on the club.

This signing means we got Giolito, Lopez, and Lynn for free.

Adam Eaton will be the worst player in our lineup next season more than likely, maybe second worst. That means we have a very good team. This being said, add another starter, shore up the bullpen and bring in a two month DH.
