We, as fans, do not know the true market for a player. If Wheeler's market was in the 110's, the 125 offer was more than acceptable. But, if you feel that this man is the only FA worth your time, and would help you win multiple titles, then you do what the Yankees did and pay up.

Waiting until 2021 is a loser's mentality and Hahn would be stupid to do so. If we was this hell bent on acquiring a young stud pitcher or nothing of note, then he should have offered Wheeler another 10m. Also, if we aren't ready yet, then why sign Grandal and extend Abreu?

And whomever is on the block because of their cost. We certainly don't have the available assets to trade for good pitchers otherwise.

I think they are after the trade market for guys other teams don't want due to cost.

I was confident our FO would do some big things, but I'm almost at the point of giving up. They are gonna give us the BS line that now is not the time to make acquisitions as our window hasn't opened yet. It's amazing that missing out on Wheeler ruined their entire gameplan.
