A Realistic Offseason
No need for games. If we want Strasburg for instance, offer him a big deal he'd actually sign. That is the only way to show the big boys you are serious. No need to waste their time offering 4 years and 60m.

Being a mystery team won't matter if your offer is crap lol. Machado was gonna hold all the way out until he got 300.

Cole or Strasburg?
The Cubs won a title and played in 3 consecutive championship series, their fans are mad, but they are fine. The Cubs bankroll and have Theo, so things will get sorted out. As for us, I have no problem taking on a very good talent and risking the down the years. It beats paying good money to a mediocre player that will lead you to 83 wins. Some of the bad contracts end up being tradeable anyway if you attach talent. It's not ideal, but not the end all. If you call yourself a real big boy organization, you have to make big boy deals. Especially since signing players to team friendly risk adverse deals can lead to failure, like our 11 seasons of no playoffs.

If it is a one year deal. For a two year or three year deal he'd sign with anyone.

Sox fans: Fuck you front office, FA sucked. FO: Why are you mad? You all complained on Twitter about signing Abreu and Cole. We signed Abreu and Cole. Sox fans: Yeah, Hamels.

That left handed bat better be Grandal in this case. And we better sign a right handed bat in Castellanos.

MLB wonders why their game is losing popularity by the year. Even free agency is boring and frustrating to follow for fans.

Hence why it is a bold prediction. Everyone would be shocked. Kenny would even need to wear shades.

Edwin Encarnacion - DH
That was factored in and the reason I kept the higher OPS' out in previous years.
-
Edwin Encarnacion - DH
Of course people expect playoffs when the players and coaches are talking playoffs. Will we beat out other teams for JT next year? I doubt it.

Edwin Encarnacion - DH
EE is good for an 880 OPS and a 130-140 OPS+ the next few years. I can live with that until Vaughn is ready.

A Realistic Offseason
That's fine if we try to get Grandal and Wheeler first.
-
Castellanos
I feel like we've seen this movie before with Swisher.
-
Castellanos
If we sign him for 4 and 60 o expect a big time pitcher as well.

Sox issue qualifying offer to Abreu
Why did I read that as A cute E

Agreed. It is 2019, leaks happen. Don't use leaks as an excuse for not getting the job done.

Mookie may get 350m next year, I don't think we kick the tires even. I think we are gonna sign safe guys to safe deals that won't hamstring us. This off season won't be a wreck, but probably not epic either. I think we end up with Ryu or Keuchel for instance. I think we sign Edwin Encarnacion to a 1 yr deal and not Grandal, or maybe we get Moose on a two year deal. I think we'd all like to be wrong about the pessimism but it's there for a reason.

I'd roll with the consistent guy who has won it all. I trust Bum alot more than Ryu.

We are all Sox fans and it's all good. We disagree sometimes and talk shit, but we are all brothers rooting for the same goal. I've watched the Sox play in 5 different cities this year and showed love to all the Sox fans I could.

What will happen first: A. We sign a top free agent B. Running Ray will admit he was wrong about starting WWIII today

Kinander says we may be in on some guys, like Ryu.

This organization isn't dumb. They will bring some real talent in here. They don't want to see pitch forks everywhere. Soxfest would need to be canceled if they screw this up.

There is no reason we shouldn't target Strasburg. All these other successful rebuilds brought in veteran star pitching. We have a lot of money and should pay him if allowed. Strasburg, Grandal, trade for RF, sign a bullpen arm, and acquire a Hamels type of pitcher for a year and I'm good. This leaves us with a payroll between 130 and 140, assuming Abreu comes back.

I don't understand what is so hard to see here. What you posted is just a fact of the sports world. Maybe people just don't want to believe it because it sucks to realize tour team is second tier. I think this org can turn this all around but it starts right now, and making a legit effort to make this team better now. Once they do this, we will become a truly relevant team. We are definitely on our way.

Thank you. This is why I started my post by saying I think Jack meant the Sox organization and not the city of Chicago. Because it may have been confusing to some.
