  1. Fulmer is going to lose the lead.
  2. If Eloy comes back in 2-4 weeks with Robert and we are within striking distance of .500, then a wild card play-off bid would not be entirely out of the question. OT: The real Baltimore Orioles arrived on my lot and in the Chicago area today. Cut some oranges in half and put them outside and some grape jelly. Then watch the Sox win two today.
  3. Robert has already demonstrated transcendent talent. He is an exception to the standard practice of promoting minor league players one level at a time. Adam Engel hit .218 in 165 AB at AAA Charlotte in 2017. He's hitting .171 now after 41 ABs with 17 SOs. I don't see how it makes sense to have Engel on the big league club and Luis Robert playing in the minors. Robert can develop at the major league level, just like TA and Moncada did.
  4. Eloy made some nice plays in Right Field in the minors. We stole him from the Cubz. That may be the worst trade Epstein has ever done since he was in Boston. Thank you! I hope Eloy watches his weight and stays in shape. If he does, he will be in our outfield for years to come. Eloy and Luis Robert...what a great tandem in the outfield.
  5. lease bring up Robert and DFA Engel.
  6. Probably just gave us the ballgame. Thank you.
  7. Cordell will get a good cut on one of these pitches. I love his sweeping swing.
  8. I agree with calling trolls out and asking posters who aren't trolls to apologize for premature, un-researched, off-the-cuff. thoughtless, provocative remarks, I'm waiting...
  9. Anyone calling Eloy a bust is trolling but suggesting he be moved to 1B or DH is not. It probably is trolling but if it isn't, it's pretty foolish. Eloy needs to focus on the routine plays and keeping himself in shape physically. Eloy and Robert are going to be an incredible tandem in the White Sox OF for years to come.
  10. Thanks Cali and everyone for your excellent comments and historical perspective. I forgot about or did not know about the other examples and the rules changes.
  11. I think mlb should also address what constitutes unacceptable bat flipping and excessive celebration following a home run. What Tim did against KC and then against Detroit (throwing his bat toward his own dugout) did not seem like it was intended to show up the other team. You have to be able to celebrate a home run within some acceptable boundaries.
  12. The ball was gone when Abreu slightly passed Tim on the bases. Fireworks were going off and the fans were going crazy. This was an enforcement of a technicality as a result of Detroit's appeal,,and one that should no longer be the rule.
  13. You cannot un-ring a bell. After you hit a home run, you should never be called out on the base path. There is no live ball at that point. Baserunners cannot be tagged out. Play is halted. Rounding the bases is strictly ceremonial and celebratory or at least that is the way it should be. MLB changed the rule requiring 4 pitches for a walk. This nonsensical interpretation of the rules should be changed as well. Once that ball sails over the fence it is a home run. Fans don't wait to celebrate and the fireworks aren't held up until the baserunners round the bases and it is determined that the batter did not pass a baserunner, even by a foot. That was an interpretation of a rule that diminished the game on a few levels.
  14. Abreu was given credit for a single and called out when he arguably passed Tim Anderson rounding first base on a home run trot. A rule is a rule unless it makes no sense or defies common sense, in which case you either scrap the rule or ignore it. Once a home run leaves the yard, play is essentially halted for all purposes other than a ceremonial trot around the bases. Heretofore, no one paid much attention to how one did that. Jimmy Piersall ran around the bases facing backwards after hitting a homer. I think Abreu needs to be credited with the home run and the league needs to make sure this rule is not enforced again in those circumstances. Meanwhile, that almost decided the baseball game.
  15. Damon Bradshaw @Damon_Bradshaw Heard a rumor, @whitesox Luis Robert sustained a broken hand, and will require surgery. Will not pick up a bat until late August at the earliest, per source. @MLBCWhiteSox 5:53 PM - Apr 24, 2019 ------------ Devastating and depressing news.
  16. I think talent evaluation is more important to an organization than (position) player development. Another way of saying that is that player development can be overrated. Palka and Emgel are prime examples of guys who will never be full time major league players no matter what they do in terms of preparation. Fulmer might be in the same category - a guy who can throw hard but cannot locate his pitches consistently no matter what adjustments he makes. On the other hand there are players like Luis Robert and Madrigal that don't need to be developed much because they already have it.
  17. It is his left hand again, the hand with the thumb sprain that plagued him last season and earlier in the Spring. I am concerned about this. Is there any more information about this injury ?
  18. Seeing Yoan and TA perform this season makes me glad they were brought up before some said they were ready. Baptism by fire can work for talented players. So Luis Robert isn't ready. Get him up here by June. And let Eloy learn on the job as well. He can't learn how to hit filthy sliders like Greene had today unless he sees them.
  19. Why are they waiting to promote Robert to AA? They are wasting his time and his career by having him down there.
  20. Ejection from the game was sufficient punishment. Suspensions were not warranted.
  21. As a White Sox fan, I no longer trust Joe West to be a fair arbiter of anything on the field that involves our team. If other Sox fans feel the same way, perhaps an on-line petition should be started where Sox fans can request the Commissioner to bar mean Joe West from umpiring any game involving the White Sox in the future. It would be better if this guy retires or leaves under other circumstances, but I for one am sick of that mofo fat cracker.
  22. Like Stone said, stop trying to get Castellanos out on low pitches. Has Fulmer been sent down yet?
  23. Collins ? You gotta be bleepin' me.
  24. Sox need a lot of pitching help plus Luis Robert and Madrigal. But as they sit now, they are better than Detroit and KC.
