  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 12:12 AM) No, but I think missing more than 1/3 of the conference is too much. Play everyone in your division for 6 games and you only play 2 out of division games, missing 5 teams. I think 14 is just a bit too big. You could easily just play 9 conference games. The Pac 10 does that every year.
  2. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Feb 3, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) Yeah, I was a little confused myself when I saw that. I'm not sure what the heck the deal is... I'm guessing early entries don't count?
  3. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 3, 2010 -> 11:07 AM) Fox, ESPN to Bid on Olympics Rights as NBC Faces Loss There may be nothing worse than an ESPN covered Olympics. Fox would be terrible and I could imagine that being easily worse than ESPN having the Olympics. Fox's sports coverage is generally terrible.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 3, 2010 -> 10:37 AM) Looks like the BUcks arent getting anyone they need, James to ND, Moses to UVA and looks like Henderson to USC. Looks like a really poor year recruiting for the Big 10 (well on paper from internet rankings anyways). Michigan and OSU both with down classes, and PSU with the only really good class.
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 3, 2010 -> 12:53 AM) "you aren't in Kansas anymore"...a movie reference in a film set 150 years in the future. genius.
  6. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 08:58 PM) Avatar' 'The Blind Side' 'District 9' 'An Education' 'The Hurt Locker' 'Inglourious Basterds' 'Precious' 'A Serious Man' "Up' 'Up in the Air' I've seen the bolded ones. I have Hurt Locker sitting next to my TV, waiting to be watched. Up in the Air was just ok. Don't get what the hype was about District 9 was absolutely horrible. Cheesy, boring. You name it. The other nominations I could understand. Great pictures. Avatar was one of the cheesiest movies I've seen recently. If you are going to criticize District 9 for that you have to criticize Avatar for that. Unless you like such amazing dialogue as "You aren't in Kansas anymore", "Why did you save me?" A: "You have a strong heart", or "Then everything changed, I fell in love".
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 07:22 PM) Every show that has a hyped series finale, with the exception of MASH, have their fans either love it or hate it. I have no idea how it is going to end, I have no idea what would make he hate or love the ending. I'm just hoping I enjoy the ride. As long as it is isn't something completely ridiculous like the whole thing being a dream or everyone actually having died in the plane crash or the like or a Sopranos ending I can't think of anything that would make me hate it. I just know in general finales are disappointing so I figure if I expect it to not blow my mind I won't be as disappointed if it doesn't.
  8. As much as I have loved Lost, I'm still preparing myself for being incredibly disappointed at the Series Finale. I think it is almost inevitable that the ending will be disappointing but I'm hoping to be surprised.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 05:12 PM) FTW. You add more teams, it means a lot of blow outs in the first week. I'm not sure that is true since I'm assuming the top 32 teams would get byes. In actuality it would produce an incredible amount of crappy basketball between nothing but bubble teams and low major champions. That sounds like fun doesn't it.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 05:08 PM) Makes me sick to my stomach just hearing about expanding the tourny. It's the best thing in sports, LEAVE IT THE f*** ALONE Yep. This is inexcusable. The NCAA tournament is the closest thing to a perfect event as there is in sports. And even as is there are a bunch of teams that really deserving each year. To use an example the Illinois team that was a bubble team 3 years ago, now I argued then and will argue now they deserved to be in a 65 team field. However, that team was mediocre and really didn't add anything to the tournament. And that is true for generally at least 5 or 6 teams every year. And now we want to add 31 more of those teams, some of which are going to struggle to be over .500 (I could easily see a major conference team finish under .500 not win their conference tourney and make the NCAA field). The entire first weekend will be watered down, and who the hell is going to want to watch a 9 seed face a 24 seed in the first round. There won't be any magic when there is an upset like that and it will be terrible basketball. I'm sure we are all looking forward to those 16 v. 17 seed matchups between teams that finished below .500 in major conferences. Picture the 4th place team in this years Pac 10 facing the 11th place team from the Big East. Ugh
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 11:15 AM) It's amazing how much they downplayed the fathers role in Michael Oher's life. Sean Tuohy was a nonfactor in the movie. The hero of the movie was Sandra Bullock's character rather than Oher and that bugged me as well.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 11:00 AM) Already it's obviously a much more "Big name film inclusive" list than that from last year. I really hope Avatar doesn't win. That would drive me nuts if Avatar won considering I hated Titanic and Cameron won for that and I thought Avatar was a mediocre movie at best even with its amazing visuals.
  13. Oscar nominations are out. Here are the 10 up for Best picture: 'Avatar' 'The Blind Side' 'District 9' 'An Education' 'The Hurt Locker' 'Inglourious Basterds' 'Precious' 'A Serious Man' 'Up' 'Up in the Air' I haven't seen a few of these but Up was by far my favorite movie of the year and I would love to see the academy award an animated film.
  14. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) As much as I'd like to see the tourney format stay the same, you'll be in a serious minority on this. Oh I know, but aside from Illinois games I am going to have no desire at all to watch that first round of games. There are enough mediocre teams in the tournament now, they don't need to add 31 more.
  15. So it sounds like there is a good chance that the NCAA tournament will be expanding to 96 teams. Way to ruin the best postseason sports NCAA. And way to continue to prove you are arguably the biggest joke of an organization in the world. This is the dumbest idea ever. There aren't even 65 deserving teams in a single season let alone 96. I hope everyone joins me in boycotting the NCAA tournament due to the expansion if this happens.
  16. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 09:08 AM) That's actually the exact opposite of the current UNC situation. The Wear twins and Henson are playing the best basketball on the team, along with Dexter Strickland. The freshmen are playing at a high level, and the seniors are playing some horrendous basketball. Yet Roy continues to stick with the seniors and UNC gets their ass handed to them. UNC's frontcourt outside of the Wear twins is really, really soft. Ginyard is worse than Jordan at Illinois offensively, he just can't do anything, even layups are a tremendous struggle. Ginyard's surgery last year also killed his quickness and he's now an average defender. I'll put it this way, Ginyard is 6-28 in his last 6 games, yet he continues to get 30 minutes a game. Henson plays some tremendous defense and provides rebounding. There's young talent on this roster, but Roy just won't play it. He's too stubborn. If Roy finally gives in and lets the freshmen have the minutes, UNC will finish the season as a dangerous team in the ACC tourney. But I'm not holding my breath. Ginyard is bad I'll give you that. I still think Thompson is a much better player than the Wear twins or Henson at this point but I could also see UNC surpassing him if given enough minutes. Also Ginyard is a much better offensive player than Jordan. Jordan is a low major division one basketball player who has an incredibly high turnover rate despite never attacking, who can't shoot and has about the most incredible negative impact on a team I have ever seen. He is -66 in Big 10 play. The majority of the team is positive and the next worse number is Keller at -16. That is staggering.
  17. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 31, 2010 -> 09:43 PM) LOL, UNC is about to lose at home by around 15 to the consensus last place team in the pre-season ACC pick Virginia Cavaliers. Reminds me of the 02-03 dark days. This team doesn't have much talent, and Roy won't play the talent in favor of the s***ty seniors marcus ginyard and deon thompson. Seven McDonald's All Americans isn't a lot of talent? Granted the Wear twins and Drew were laughable selections but still. And I haven't watched as much UNC as you obviously but Thompson is a hell of a lot better option than the Wear twins and John Henson. And he is having a great season statistically.
  18. Demarcus Cousins, Calipari and Kentucky are everything that is wrong with college basketball.
  19. God I wish Porter had returned that for a TD. That would have been amazing if the Vikings would have lost on a Favre pick 6.
  20. The most boring post season ever continues. Hopefully the NFC title game or Super Bowl will actually be good.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) Jordan gives the team nothing. Cole actually does provide lock down D. It's time to play the freshman and let them gain as much experience as possible. A tourney bid is pretty unrealisic without 2-3 upsets. LOl, Cole's D is average at best. He had a good game on D against Hummel that is it. He helps constantly when there is no need to which leads to wide open 3s consistently including Shurna's dagger today. He also can't stop dribble penetration against smaller players. The tourney is still alive because every bubble team has such an underwhelming resume right now and the Pac 10 sucks so much it is a legit possibility they only get one team. Illinois has to win the next 3 and then go 4-4 in their last 8 (which will be tough if they don't pick it up) and that probably gets them in.
  22. 0 pts and 2 boards for Mike Davis. Way to come to play. I really can't stand him right now. Somebody needs to do a man check to make sure he didn't lose his balls. Also, Cole and Jordan suck, it really sucks that Bertrand got hurt and Legion was such a bad basketball player that those two have to play.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 10:00 PM) Jordan maybe able to play some defense but too bad he can't box out He can't even play D. There isn't a single thing he does well on the basketball court.
  24. QUOTE (SnB @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) illini offense just looks completely lost. Mccamey trying to do everything and I really can't blame him. The stretch that killed them was when they had multiple fast breaks and turned the ball over each team. They convert those plays and go up digits and win going away. Instead they have two turnovers, then Paul decides to take a stupid contested 3 and NW gets momentum.
  25. Mike Davis returns to his disappearing act after one good half against Purdue.
