QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 11:00 PM) It's a one man team right now. McCamey is really having a great junior season. Davis looks to have found a little confidence in his game, at least. When you're down 8 against a tournament team and have Jordan, Griffey, and Cole on the court...you know recruiting misses over the last few years are killing you. FT shooting killed Illinois today. I was happy to see Davis finally play well, we need him if we are going to have a chance to make the tourney. Next two are must wins and if they win those they will be 8-2 in Big 10 play going into the final 8 (I'm just going to assume wins at home against IU and on the road against Iowa). Griffey has actually played well the last two games and will be a really good player. But I agree the 2006 and 2008 recruiting classes are killing this team. That and Bertrand's injury and Legion sucking leads to way too many minutes for Jordan and Cole. But at least Cole did a great job on Hummel tonight. I f'ing hate Jordan. I know we don't have depth but i still would cut his minutes. He doesn't handle the ball that well, he can't shoot, and he is an average defender at best. I really don't get the way refs have officiated Tisdale the last two games. MSU and Purdue's strategy has been to do nothing but push and shove him and none of it is called yet he gets called for all and any contact. I'm not saying he isn't fouling but he should be drawing way more fouls as well. But the bad thing is he is becoming Randlesque at disappearing once he gets in foul trouble. He needs to learn to play through it. Also, Purdue commits fouls on literally every possession of every game they play (and it is even more obvious in person). What a complete bulls*** style of defense. They definitely subscribe to the theory that if you foul on every possession refs won't call a lot of it so you get the advantage. And there may not be a more overrated defender in Big 10 history than Kramer. If it wasn't for the holding and grabbing he would get torched consistently. And the short ref tonight should lose his job. That guy was clueless.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 11:26 PM) Yep, one of the most annoying games I've ever seen. Give credit to Kansas State crowd, as they've been the only redeeming aspect of this game. As I said the other day, this might be the worst basketball season in a long time with regards to talent level. Tons of turnovers and terrible shooting. If these are two top 10 teams than this is likely going to be a tournament similar to Florida's first title where there were tons of upsets and a really surprising final 4.

The Texas/KSU game has been a terribly played basketball game.

NBC Set to LOSE "a couple hundred million bucks" on Olympics
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) I remember about 10 years or so ago when the Olympics used to be about everyone getting together in the spirit of competition and watching the United States win everything Yeah but that has always only been the Summer Olympics. The Winter Olympics the US is solid bot not dominant.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 01:43 AM) That was another one I had heard was a good adaptation, forgot about that. The fighting games are a lost cause. There just isnt enough substance to do anything with them. Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Dragon Ball Z, now Tekken. Crap Another name for the Sinestro character, Mark Strong Dragonball Z is based on a manga/anime and there is plenty of material there to make a good movie. Also, the Book of Eli was an absolutely horrible movie.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) He's lucky they didnt lose cuz of that. I despise him. This team is such an enigma. Tisdale and Demetri seem to be getting it and DJ is solid. We really need Paul to get going again or we are going to struggle against good teams. Cole and Jordan suck. And Davis needs to get his head back into the game.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) Why didn't Jordan grab that ball after the block? He just let it go out of bounds! He could of easily snatched it. Yep I hate him more than just about any player that has played for Illinois. Pathetic.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 10:08 PM) Weber moving Jordan up in the depth chart over Paul? SIU/Creighton on Comcast Sportsnet tomorrow. Glad I get to watch but not glad. Paul has been playing unbelievably bad basketball lately. Seems to have hit a wall. I'm sure when he starts making some shots again he'll get more PT. I hate Jordan and Cole but Weber doesn't really have any good options right now.

NBC Set to LOSE "a couple hundred million bucks" on Olympics
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 07:20 PM) That's the Summer Olympics though. The Winter Olympics have just never been big IMO. Maybe in the European nations however. Well that wasn't the point he was making. And no the Winter Olympics aren't as big as the Summer Olympics. There are obviously far less events and I don't think Americans are as familiar with the individual events either.

Leno going back to Late Night
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 08:29 PM) It's amazing how fast this thing escalated. I think Conan is well in his right to be royally pissed off. Leno has a history of doing backhanded things like this, and NBC has mismanaged both sides. Even though I think Letterman sucks, I really hope he beats Leno in the ratings when Leno returns to doing The Tonight Show. It would be hilarious and typical of NBC's f ups as a network.

Leno going back to Late Night
Conan's monologues are probably going to be classic until he goes off the air. The one last night was outstanding. Leno and Letterman both suck it is a shame Conan gets screwed but at least he is still getting paid.

McGwire Admits Steroid Use
LOL at Larussa "I didn't know anything". Yeah ok. You only coached McGwire and Canseco in Oakland when steroids became big in baseball and then coached McGwire again when he became a dominant force after several mediocre at best seasons.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) Brady is playing like ass but I'm not putting this game on him. Of his 3 picks so far, 1 was because he chucked it up, but 2 were off his WRs hands. The fumble got knocked right out of his hand, I guess he should've felt the pressure coming, but what can you do when it's right in your face? That last interception was definitely Brady's fault. Watson got hit as the ball was getting to him and didn't have a chance of making that play.

Great comeback again today. This team has the talent to be very good they just don't play hard enough and with enough intensity until they get down. I'm still hoping that at some point the upper classmen develop a killer instinct and get after from the opening tip. Not holding my breath though.

Official 2009-2010 NCAA Basketball Thread
Illinois comes back to tie it. I'll be interested to see if they can complete the comeback and win tonight. And I still hope at some point this year they play with the same intensity they do when down double digits at the start of games.

I still can't believe I am seeing a Weber coached team not play hard and not play D. He has flaws as a coach certainly but he has never had a team at Southern Illinois or Illinois that didn't play hard and wasn't at least very good defensively.

I am so sick of this Illinois team. What a waste of talent the upperclassmen are proving to be. No toughness in that group at all.
