  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) Paul is just like he was in high school. If he hits his first shot of the game, you know he will have a great game. Awesome to see them comeback and him being huge after watching him in high school for 3 years. I'm in love with him and DJ. And what is funny is Bertrand destroyed them both head to head in HS but he is way too passive and I'm not sure that will change. I still want to see what he can do this year though.
  2. That was amazing. The 2nd half Illinois is the team I was expecting come into this year. Our starting 5 is really good.
  3. Illinois back in the game. Only down 4.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) Illini back within 10. Time to put Jordan back in. Illinois has actually completely outplayed Clemson when McCamey has been on the floor. Oh, and Brandon Paul is going to be amazing once he improves his ballhandling a little bit and learns to play D with his length and athleticism. And he is already pretty damn good as it is. Paul and Richardson are going to be fantastic players.
  5. And McCamey gets called for a bulls*** 4th foul just as Illinois was making a run. Coincidence?
  6. QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 08:06 PM) Thanks for nothing, Illinois/ I'm not surprised we are bad right now and really only have one guard who can really handle the ball and then DJ is solid. Paul can score but he doesn't handle it well. You take McCamey off the floor and replace him with a DIII caliber player for a half and you are in trouble against the press. With that said we would still be losing but those calls on McCamey pretty much ended any chance of Illinois winning tonight. Who calls a worse game college refs (not blaming them we really really suck) in general or NBA refs who point shave?
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 08:00 PM) Is Legion that deep in the doghouse where he can't even play over Jordan? Sort of, he is in the doghouse but Weber is under the very false impression that Jordan can handle the ball.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) Illinois is just awful without McCamey Yep, too bad the refs decided to call him for two cheap fouls and allow every other player on the court to hack and go over the back constantly. Also, if Bertrand gets healthy fairly soon I hope he just plays this year and doesn't redshirt. I never want to see Jordan on the court again.
  9. Also, Jeff Jordan is terrible at basketball.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 07:44 PM) It's usually a tough call. So much goes into it and you have to make a judgment right away. I'm asuming you are thinking of the one in the beginning of the game where the Clemson guy was clearly moving. Yeah, Paul! That one was terrible and then Booker ran over Brandon Paul who had position for a couple of seconds and there was no call on him.
  11. Is there any call in sports that refs or officials screw up as often as the charge/block call in college basketball? It is ridiculous how terrible refs are at getting that right.
  12. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) Goodness, this is by far the best UNC has played this year. I almost feel bad for MSU. Your guards are playing well tonight and with that frontcourt when Drew and Strickland play well you are going to be incredibly tough to beat.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 09:59 PM) Cole is awful. Drew seems ok for now. I'll give him a chance. Cole there is no hope for but yeah Drew might end up being an ok character. If this show is going to be good Lucy is going to have to be a more interesting character and Turk and Cox are going to have to carry a real heavy load.
  14. Kalin Lucas is UNC's b****. He has gotten consistently destroyed by them the last 2 years. And MSU plays right into UNC's hands by running with them the way they do.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) One small thing that bothered me is that last season at times, it seemed like Dr. Cox was getting too soft. I love that this new version makes him seem like Dr. Cox from seasons 1 and 2. The best stuff tonight was with JD and Cox. When Braff is gone, I'm not too confident the show can succeed. The Lucy character is not that interesting. The two new guy characters seem even worse. Cole is a terrible character and I'm not feeling the Drew guy either.
  16. Ron Guenther is such a dumbass, I can't think of a single reason that Zook should be kept as the head coach of Illinois. This staff has underachieved an unbelievable amount the last couple of years with the talent they brought in. I saw this posted on another board that only 24 schools brought in top 35 classes in 06, 07, and 08 and 22 of those schools are going to ball games this year. The only ones that aren't are Michigan and Illinois and Michigan at least has the excuse of attrition due to a new coaching staff as well as players that were recruited for a different scheme. Not to mention, the longer you retain Zook the worse the program is set up for future success unless he pulls a miracle next year and somehow wins big and gets some stability with his job and is able to get recruiting back on track. It just seems like this is the perfect time to dump him and bring in a coach that knows what the hell they are doing. It could be somewhat similar to Florida bringing in Meyer after Zook (I'm not saying we will championships but more or less that the new coach will actually get the most out of the talent Zook leaves which for Illinois likely means 8-4 type seasons). But instead, the 2010 recruiting class is falling apart, and by bringing him back basically for one more year you are going to make recruiting in 2011 extremely difficult as well so the talent will fall off for the future. Therefore the next coach will have to rebuild from scratch and you will be right back to where we were when Zook took over.
  17. Only 7 from my list made the top 50 but that doesn't really surprise me. I was happy that Modest Mouse made it and the only one that somewhat surprised me was that the Arcade Fire got no love considering they have released two of the best albums of the past decade.
  18. QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 07:34 PM) This is gonna be a completely unpopular position, but I'll say it anyway. I understand what those top 4 bands did for music and that they inspired bands I listen to now etc. But I could really give a s***. I can't connect with a band that had their height in popularity and influence decades before i was born. I think it's a little weird to be 25 and the Beatles are your favorite band ever. My mom lived through Beatlemania, I could never like or appreciate that band as much as she did. I'm 24 and they are one of my top 5 bands and I think I had them #1 for this although I just as easily could have had the Arcade Fire or a number of other bands #1. But my parents also played the Beatles a ton when I was a kid and I basically grew up listening to them and have actually appreciated their music more as I have gotten older.
  19. Seriously we have TE's blocking Jared Allen?
  20. Lol at the Bears offensive line. Wow do I hate sports right now.
  21. Almost a huge brawl at the end of the USC-UCLA game. USC was taking knees up 14 with under a minute to go but UCLA was still calling timeouts. So on 3rd down USC ran a play action pass and scored a TD and then celebrated pretty extensively on their sideline. The UCLA started heading towards the USC sideline and got over half way there before they were stopped.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 10:26 PM) Richmond is averaging 25 and 20 the first 3 games of the year if that helps. It takes me off my suicide watch. He and Meyers Leonard are both studs and should at least help fix Illinois's rebounding trouble.
  23. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 10:24 PM) Hey at least you didnt lose to Bradley in the first round of the tourney True that, but we keep playing like this and we won't be in the tourney.
  24. I'm still so pissed right now. Apparently Jeff Jordan is going to be the new Chester Frazier minus the rebounding and lockdown defense. While also being more of a liability on offense than Frazier.
