  1. Kalin Lucas is UNC's b****. He has gotten consistently destroyed by them the last 2 years. And MSU plays right into UNC's hands by running with them the way they do.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) One small thing that bothered me is that last season at times, it seemed like Dr. Cox was getting too soft. I love that this new version makes him seem like Dr. Cox from seasons 1 and 2. The best stuff tonight was with JD and Cox. When Braff is gone, I'm not too confident the show can succeed. The Lucy character is not that interesting. The two new guy characters seem even worse. Cole is a terrible character and I'm not feeling the Drew guy either.
  3. Ron Guenther is such a dumbass, I can't think of a single reason that Zook should be kept as the head coach of Illinois. This staff has underachieved an unbelievable amount the last couple of years with the talent they brought in. I saw this posted on another board that only 24 schools brought in top 35 classes in 06, 07, and 08 and 22 of those schools are going to ball games this year. The only ones that aren't are Michigan and Illinois and Michigan at least has the excuse of attrition due to a new coaching staff as well as players that were recruited for a different scheme. Not to mention, the longer you retain Zook the worse the program is set up for future success unless he pulls a miracle next year and somehow wins big and gets some stability with his job and is able to get recruiting back on track. It just seems like this is the perfect time to dump him and bring in a coach that knows what the hell they are doing. It could be somewhat similar to Florida bringing in Meyer after Zook (I'm not saying we will championships but more or less that the new coach will actually get the most out of the talent Zook leaves which for Illinois likely means 8-4 type seasons). But instead, the 2010 recruiting class is falling apart, and by bringing him back basically for one more year you are going to make recruiting in 2011 extremely difficult as well so the talent will fall off for the future. Therefore the next coach will have to rebuild from scratch and you will be right back to where we were when Zook took over.
  4. Only 7 from my list made the top 50 but that doesn't really surprise me. I was happy that Modest Mouse made it and the only one that somewhat surprised me was that the Arcade Fire got no love considering they have released two of the best albums of the past decade.
  5. QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 07:34 PM) This is gonna be a completely unpopular position, but I'll say it anyway. I understand what those top 4 bands did for music and that they inspired bands I listen to now etc. But I could really give a s***. I can't connect with a band that had their height in popularity and influence decades before i was born. I think it's a little weird to be 25 and the Beatles are your favorite band ever. My mom lived through Beatlemania, I could never like or appreciate that band as much as she did. I'm 24 and they are one of my top 5 bands and I think I had them #1 for this although I just as easily could have had the Arcade Fire or a number of other bands #1. But my parents also played the Beatles a ton when I was a kid and I basically grew up listening to them and have actually appreciated their music more as I have gotten older.
  6. Lol at the Bears offensive line. Wow do I hate sports right now.
  7. Almost a huge brawl at the end of the USC-UCLA game. USC was taking knees up 14 with under a minute to go but UCLA was still calling timeouts. So on 3rd down USC ran a play action pass and scored a TD and then celebrated pretty extensively on their sideline. The UCLA started heading towards the USC sideline and got over half way there before they were stopped.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 10:26 PM) Richmond is averaging 25 and 20 the first 3 games of the year if that helps. It takes me off my suicide watch. He and Meyers Leonard are both studs and should at least help fix Illinois's rebounding trouble.
  9. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 10:24 PM) Hey at least you didnt lose to Bradley in the first round of the tourney True that, but we keep playing like this and we won't be in the tourney.
  10. I'm still so pissed right now. Apparently Jeff Jordan is going to be the new Chester Frazier minus the rebounding and lockdown defense. While also being more of a liability on offense than Frazier.
  11. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 09:52 PM) So if Ill State beats Bradley, are they better than the Illini? Right now we suck, so maybe. Also, terrible job by Weber this weekend, he is usually a great in game coach but has done a terrible job these last two games. Play your best players and get f***ing Jordan off the floor. I don't care if the freshmen are struggling they are still better than Jordan.
  12. I want to kill Weber right now, stop playing mother f***ing Jeff Jordan. He is terrible at basketball.
  13. Beal deciding between most likely Florida, Illinois and Kansas and will announce Monday. Based on my day today, I could use another kick in the nuts so I'm going to guess Florida.
  14. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 12:47 AM) A Freshman in March is basically a Sophmore, I know. I am hearing Coach Squeaky did not shake the Utah coach's hand after the game? Looked like he shook his hand but I could be wrong. Part of the problem was the Illinois team was waiting for the officials to review the last play and the Utah players were obviously celebrating. Pretty chaotic. Also, Mike Davis really pisses me off. He is capable of being such a great player but he just doesn't play with intensity way too often against teams that he sees as lesser opponents.
  15. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 12:43 AM) You do understand that Freshman are important with the way NCAA Bball is set up right now. It is very rare to see a Junior or Senior star player these days. Oh I know, but freshmen are going to have bad games and early in the season they can be terrible and your other players need to step up. We have a talented group of JRs but Davis played terrible. Please tell me you remember how bad the Chalmers, Wright, Rush, etc. group looked early in their freshmen years at time and how good they were by the end of the year? That is all I am saying.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 12:38 AM) I completely agree with you on this. As much as I respected Frazier as a person, Weber's motion offense works so much better when all 5 players on the court can shoot the ball. When Jordan's in the game, it's shades of Frazier on offense all over again. Well Frazier was at least a great defender and rebounder and could also distribute the ball fairly well by his SR year. Jordan can only dribble with his left hand, is as bad of a shooter as Jordan, is average on defense, doesn't rebound and really doesn't do a good job distributing the ball. This is why once Bertrand is healthy I would play him. I'm still excited about the potential of this team but this is what happens when you rely on freshmen who aren't Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Greg Oden, etc. they are going to have struggles and need to learn how to play in tight games at the college level. But I still would rather have a struggling Brandon Paul on the court than Jordan even at his best.
  17. Also, Weber needs to stop playing Jordan. The guy is f***ing terrible at basketball and while the whole team sucked tonight, he was the direct cause of the loss by not rotating back on D after McCamey shot the ball a little too early on Illinois' last possession.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 12:30 AM) Did they review it? Yeah, but it was in some terrible venue so they couldn't tell especially if they had a similar feed to what I was watching. But the pass down the court was thrown with about 2 seconds left and the guy caught it took a dribble jumped and then shot. Just very unlikely he actually got it off.
  19. Illinois Loses. Freaking pathetic and a horrible day of sports for me. I'm pretty sure Utah didn't actually get their last 2nd shot off but we deserved to lose.
  20. Illinois playing an unbelievably poor basketball game today. Davis having one of his disappearing acts and Paul and Richardson have played like freshmen.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 27, 2009 -> 02:14 PM) They split, but I still thought the team that gets into the bowl gets a larger chunk of the revenue? Am I mistaken? From what I understand all the bowl payouts are put into basically a common pot that is split equally but I do believe that the teams that go to the better bowl get a bigger budget for travel and other expenses so I guess a team could make slightly more if they stay under budget.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 27, 2009 -> 01:01 PM) Aren't most of the experts saying Penn State is going to get selected before Iowa? Either one will be the first at-large BCS team selected because of the draw (both teams travel exceptionally well) but Penn State has Joe Pa and a better lore than Iowa so in the end I think the Hawkeyes are gonna get the short-end of the stick, unfortunately, despite the fact that Iowa won @ PSU. I hope I'm wrong though, cause that money would be great for the program. In the Big 10 it doesn't matter much who makes what game since they split the revenues from the bowls. Iowa will get basically the same amount of money if they go to a BCS bowl as if Penn State does. I think the only difference is how big of a budget the school gets depending on what bowl they are invited to.
  23. Iowa hanging with Texas in the first half. I still say Rick Barnes is one of the worst in game coaches in America.
  24. Refs cheated UConn out of two go ahead TDs late with weak ass holding calls. Quick edit, make that one complete BS holding call and one somewhat questionable one.
