  1. They usually get the kids to settle out of court for like $15000 to $20000. They make the $150000 per mp3 as a preventative measure. They think that wanting to gouge kids [again] will curb mp3 downloading out of fear of the high penalties.
  2. They nailed a few college kids recently. The RIAA sued for $150,000 for EACH mp3. Yeah that'll make them more popular. The RIAA claims that CD sales went down...because of mp3s and not because all the music they produce sucks massive amounts of donkey nutsack. Their claim doesn't hold water because independent record sales increased and their stuff can be found on the net in mp3s as well. :finger RIAA and your lying fascistic bulls*** of price gouging kids for nearly $20 a CD.
  3. Speaking of crappy comic book movies, who can forget that 80s pile of monkey love, The Punisher? Jesus H. Christpunchers did that movie suck ass. Here's to hoping the 2004 one is much better. The Batman movies started out pretty good. I loved the first one but as they got more and more sequels it became about marketing the name and making money hand over fist instead of making a quality movie.
  4. Frank Miller's Batman stuff is pretty good. I found it eerie that he was working on a scene where Batman was driving a flying Batmobile into Metropolis buildings in the days before 9/11. Batman will always have a special place with me because I f***ing love the Joker...and who can hate a title that kills off that little asshole, Jason Todd?
  5. My faves `Preacher: A preacher teams up with his girlfriend and a drunken Irish vampire to track down God and hold him accountable for leaving Heaven while encountering hitmen and other fun obstacles along the way...and oh yeah he has the power of "the Word" which makes people do whatever he says when he uses it. Garth Ennis wrote this series like a masterpiece. `Transmetropolitan: A journalist in the future has two write two more books or he dies. So, he takes on the evils of The City. `Punisher: Garth Ennis writes again. Anything this guy touches is gold...except for when he does heroes with super powers. `Fury: They recently brought back Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD for a limited series...again written by Ennis. f***ing brilliant stuff...everything.
  6. Yeah he was running around blowing s*** up.
  7. With the films based on comic books [Hulk, Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, Daredevil etc.] and the TV shows based off of comic characters [Lois and Clark, The Flash, Batman, Spider-Man, etc.], I just wanted to see what people thought about comic books. [and if you like them, favorite titles?] Little known fact about me...I have been collecting comic books for years
  8. I was watching Jenny Jones one afternoon and saw a 13 year old girl on there who had been to rehab TWICE for heroin addiction.
  9. Does anybody remember Fester's Quest or Friday the 13th or Metal Gear?
  10. Emulators are very good, but there is an authentic feel to the actual NES. However, playing on the emulator is better because it doesn't crash as often and stuff. But Punch Out, Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros., RBI Baseball, Blades of Steel...oh man, NES kicked major league ass. And viva Intellivision. Blades of Steel
  11. And I know lots of stoners that are pulling 4.0 and higher GPA and are very intelligent people. I don't really think it's marijuana that is making wsc an idiot.
  12. FOX also leaned hard on wanting Clemens in the ASG. That's one of the reasons Zito got taken off the team because FOX wanted Clemens. [aside from Zito pitching before too]
  13. Cluj, I just got home from work. I'll PM you the poll stuff later this evening. The politics in America is beyond pathetic. Half of the voting aged people don't even vote anymore for varying reasons [my personal one is a lack of real choice on the ballot] I personally think that there is no well defined cleavage between the two major political parties. Like in Britain, there is the rich in the Conservative party and the workers etc. in the Labor party. There is a well defined cleavage between the two sides there. In this country we have Democrats that vote like Republicans, Republicans that vote like Democrats and a mushy group of centrists that doesn't do a whole lot of anything. Neither party has a well defined platform and as Cluj states it becomes, essentially, what the other party has failed to do vs the failing party claiming that they will do better. There are no real clearly defined differences that last between the 2 parties. I mean, for example, the GOP used to be for less government yet they passed the PATRIOT Act to get more intrusion of peoples' privacy and they also want to enforce "deviate sex act" laws against homosexuals [funny note: in the now defunct Texas "deviate sex act" statute, bestiality is not considered deviate] And the Democrats like Lieberman who use the PMRC to censor stuff when the Democrats are usually for free speech. Pa-thet-ic = American politics.
  14. During the buildup to war, every media outlet [CNN, MSGOP, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.] stated that over 60% did not want the US to go alone. Hell, George HW Bush came out and told his son not to go alone. If you dig up the news reports [i would but I need sleep for work soon] you'll see the reports. I can go search them up tomorrow evening after I get off my shift at work if you would like.
  15. King George II of the United States is the Bush I was discussing. Bush and Co lied and people died. Every poll I saw said that the MAJORITY DISAPPROVED of going alone without UN approval. Why not take the conservative blinders off and check that. K thx. And pre-emptive wars of aggression are following Nazi doctrine. I'd rather not ascribe to that. And Cluj, who gave Saddam the gas that he used to kill his own civilians in 1988? The UNITED STATES. And how many countries condemned it when it happened? ZERO.
  16. May 1, the day Bush played dress up and flew into the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the flight suit. There was a giant banner on the carrier that declared "Mission Accomplished" [a la Triumph of the Will] We have yet to capture Saddam like we stated was the goal of the mission. We have yet to find ONE WMD which we said was a goal of the mission. We said they had WMD's so where are they? We said we knew where they were. http://www.buzzflash.com/contributors/03/0...06_mission.html It is a piece from Buzzflash about the Bush war aims and how they haven't achieved any of them. From the research I've done, the reason America turned against Vietnam was the in depth media coverage that showed the death and destruction we were facing there and what we were doing to the Vietnamese people. Bush saying a year before that his aim was "f*** Saddam. We're taking him out." and even before that on the morning of 9/11, CBS discovered that Rummy made plans to attack Iraq. Bush was the aggressor, not Saddam.
  17. Blix said that they were making gains in their search but Bush and Co. kept pressuring that we needed to invade and not allow the search. In later interviews, Blix has called Bush and Co. "bastards" for subverting their search attempts at every point. Bushie was the one who went over the UN and said we were invading despite what Blix did or said. Let's not forget that the blood of the 200+ dead US soldiers is on Bush's hands.
  18. http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/politics/...sp?story=424008 The Independent in Britain has done a study of reasons for war and how they were false. It's easy to see Bushie's lies. He lied when he said he hadn't made up his mind about going to war. [March 2002...he was quoted as saying "f*** Saddam. We're taking him out." without proof or reason] http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/03/24/...imep.saddam.tm/ Link that shows the quote and explains it He lied about the Niger-Uranium deal that never happened. Colin Powell said, "I'm not reading this - this is bulls***." [when Bush, Blair and he met the morning of the UN speech about the UN speech] Rummy lied when he said he knew exactly where the WMDs were, near Baghdad and Tikrit. Where are they if we said we knew where they were and had satellite photos that could track the movement of them? Now they're saying we might be there as long as four more years. His own generals told him not to go into Iraq. The UN told him not to go in, as did every one of our allies excepy Tony the Discredited. His own father, and his father's National Security Advisor Brent Snowcroft told him not to go alone. But this is what happens when cocaine addict, boozehound, AWOL spoiled little boy never had a fair fight in his entire life. Bush hasn't the slightest clue about how the world works - daddy always did everything for him. He's not capable of comprehending what "consequences" are because he's never had to face any. Since Bush declared "Mission Accomplished", there has been on average one US soldier dying every day until today. So they are not over analyzing. There have been simply, a multitude of deaths over there but to quote Donald Rumsfeld, "Stuff happens." [and one of the soldiers recently killed by a sniper was from my home town so there have been a few more people questioning the Bush reasons for war here because the death hit home] And to your Democrats that voted for the authorization of force in Iraq... 81 Democrats in the House voted for it Democrat Yes Voters Link 29 Democrats in the Senate voted for it Democat Yes Voters Link
  19. Well if Iraq keeps going at the pace it's going with more troops dying nearly every day and the whole thing about intelligence failures. The CIA, according to the Washington Post, cut the uranium from Africa stuff in October...so they are wondering how it made it into Bush's speech in January. More and more people are getting disgruntled about the Iraq war and how much money it is going to take to deal with that. If people start sifting through Bush's lies and bulls***, he'll be out in 2004 for sure. Kerry is going to run but he voted for the Iraq war. I wonder how he and Lieberman thought being more Republican than the Republicans would get them the Democratic ticket.
  20. Well what do you think of Dean, sideshow? He's a more middle of the road version of Dennis Kucinich [the guy I am backing for President]. Kucinich one ups Dean on every stance with a better approach that is more to my liking. The straw that broke me off the Dean bandwagon was that he supports the death penalty at times.
  21. Lieberman has agreed with a former drug czar [i believe the last name is Bennett] when the czar said that we should fight crime in Washington DC by "rounding up all blacks and put them on barges in the Potomac". Lieberman called himself as an expert about music and how lyrics make kids do things. To quote the immortal Frank Zappa, "There are a lot of songs about love. I don't see everybody holding hands." He said that the kids committed the Arkansas school shootings because according to their teachers, "They were fine boys until they started listening to that 2Pack Shaker and them Bone Thugs and Harmony." He didn't mention that the two kids sung in the church choir regularly. He is an ally of Pat Robertson...the guy who claimed homosexuals, atheists, ACLU, People for the American Way, and other non Christian people [surprisingly he and Jerry didn't mention people who practice fundamentalist Islam] were responsible for 9/11. Lieberman wants to create a blanket ratings system for movies, video games, CD's and music live acts. He wants to institute government approved labels for music that CD's will need in order to be sold. He is part of the Parents Television Council that helped to get shows like Family Guy taken off the air under the guise of family values. I have a lot more about Joe but it's downstairs at the current moment.
  22. I seriously would not doubt that at all.
  23. Dean is Kucinich light. The race will end up probably being Dean vs Bush though. And I'll end up voting Dean, then running to a bathroom to puke my guts out.
  24. I lambast the assholes on the left quite a lot. [Tipper Gore, Joe Lieberman, Al Gore for different reasons than the GOP...the fact that he told African countries ravaged with AIDS that they could not get generic anti-AIDS drugs because medicine companies wanted more money...] Hell I've watched stuff from the PMRC Congressional hearings and laugh my ass off when Tipper Gore says that there is nothing on this CD cover saying it's not for children to which Frank Zappa retorts "I think the buzzsaw between the guy's legs makes it pretty obvious it's not for little Johnny." Or after the Arkansas school shooting, Lieberman called himself as an expert to discuss the "vile music" like Marilyn Manson etc. Very funny stuff.
