  1. Yeah, also, there are weapons for the 1980s wars that are buried all over the mid-East in Afghanistan, Iran, etc. because groups like the Moujhadeen kept them there. Not saying that this is what that is, but lots of weapons like that etc. have been known to be buried throughout the region.
  2. I never said what Clinton did was right. But just because Clinton broke the law makes it okay for Bush to do the same thing somehow?
  3. The media is showing 1000. Let's say it's 10,000 then, possibly 20,000 that still doesn't change the fact that it's an incredibly small minority of a city that has over 5 million in it.
  4. It was a photo taken during. I actually watched it on TV.
  5. See, that's the problem. The name of the pro-war side, the "Support the Troops" name. It asserts the false premise that the anti-war groups are against the troops. We in fact, want less dead for a war based on Bushie's lies. But there was a letter in our school newspaper from a resident of a neighboring town saying that "all anti-war protesters are blowhard pinheads" etc. It was a very funny read to say the least because the man had no coherent argument outside of insults. But I just need to know. I post photos of Iraqi children hurt by DU, etc. and it's called propaganda. You guys post photos of about 1000 people in a city of 5 million cheering and we are supposed to believe that's the truth. No, I believe that's called the double standard.
  6. I feel bad for the people in Iraq. Bush has a record of coming in, declaring victory, then leaving. They are going to be f***ed beyond belief. Give them a few months and they are gonna be wallowed in poverty and ripe for another dictator to roll on in and take them over.
  7. This is actually a very small part of my life, actually. I'm actually out teaching myself recipes etc., volunteering at different places, etc. The anti-war movement/anti-Bush movement has millions of people in it. Even if it doesn't work until 2004 when his ass gets voted out of office, I can take solice in the fact that I can sleep at night with a good conscience doing what I believe in.
  8. Student....studying history education. Focus on US history especially labor history etc.
  9. Baggs, I'd admit I was wrong if what you attributed to me was actually what I said. Actually what I stated about this war is that 1) it's based on lies: Al Qaeda and Iraq have no ties according to the CIA Powell's speech was 100% plagiarized from 1991 grad school work 2) this is not the war that the u.s. war gamed against and cost the lives of a lot more people than it should have 3) I said that the UN sanctions killed 1.2 million and I said that out of the millions of people there, lots of civilians could get injured. Which was a correct assumption since the conservative estimates put it at around 1000 Iraqi civilians...not counting Red Cross people that we killed and injured during our bombing campaigns. 4) I stated that membership in terror organizations would spike and make the country less safe...terror groups have had a huge increase in membership. The law says Bush is a war criminal. Will anybody have the balls to prosecute him? f*** no because we've already stated that the "full might of the US military" will go into the Hague and liberate US people. Baggs, WHEN we go to war with Syria and Iran...will you support those too? And Baggs, if you listen to Rummy, they still don't have control of all of Baghdad yet either. This war is still going on. And Baggs, riddle me this....5 million inhabitants of the city if we really controlled it all then why weren't there more people out thanking us like supposedly the entire population wants to? Could it be that they don't like borderline US imperialism. As the noted historian Howard Zinn says "There is no flag large enough to cover up the shame of killing innocents." And riddle me this Baggs, if Saddam had WoMD, wouldn't it make military sense for him to use them during a full scale invasion of his regime?
  10. Look at the photo of the pro-war rally in Washington. Nearly 10 million around the world voice their anger against war but this.....this......THE PEOPLE HAVE TRULY SPOKEN!
  11. A piece from CBS by Andy Rooney: I've lived a long while now and I don't remember any more unpleasant times than these. I'm not even interested in reading the sports pages. I hate everything about this war except that we're winning it. You can't even be critical, either, without sounding unpatriotic. It's why Peter Arnett got fired by NBC for speaking on Iraqi television. I'm patriotic but I wish our government would stop treating this war as if they had to sell it to us with slick advertising slogans. The White House Web site puts out a bulletin about the war with this headline: OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. Come on, all we want is the news, not a sales pitch. They called our bombing campaign against Baghdad "Shock and Awe." After the UN refused to approve the war, our government put together a list of countries it said supported us. They called it a "coalition of the willing." The generals don't talk about American soldiers. It's always "coalition forces." It's as if there were no Americans there. Reporters have been sucked into it, too. The word makes it sound as though we're just a few countries short of having the whole world on our side, and that isn't true. Most of the world is against us. The Administration says 49 countries are part of the coalition. I see that Eritrea, Uganda and Iceland are on our side. The fact is, though, we're in this thing with the British, who have 45,000 soldiers there, and the Australians, who have 2,000. That's it. The other 46 wish us well or let us fly bombers over their country. Big deal. We've practically bribed some of them. We offered Turkey $15 billion to let our troops go through there but they refused. President Bush won't be sending the president of Turkey anything for his birthday this year. There aren't any good wars, but this one is especially bad. We want to win it quickly without more death but we're grown-up people, too. The President, Rumsfeld and the generals ought to stop treating us like children. Tell us the truth. We can take it even when it's bad. And the only real good news will be when this terrible time in American history is over.
  12. Ah yes, and advocating a war that has already, at conservative estimates killed over 1000 civilians, and about 100 U.S. troops....That a big honorable goal? Since when is death, slaughter and destruction something honorable? And an insult coming from you Spiff, it doesn't really mean much.
  13. His family MADE MONEY SELLING WEAPONS TO THE NAZIS! That's how his family got power and prestige! Yet we're fed the BS that the Bush family is some great American family. Bush is a Nazi...he ascribes to Nazi ideas of pre-emption. The blind nationalism....pretty much like the Nazi regime. The doing away with dissent with the "you're not patriotic" is totally taken right from the mouth of a quote from Hermann Goering: My great grandparents and other relatives were involved in WW II as well. A lot of them served in the German army and also a lot on my grandfather's side of the family were part of the Resistance movement against Hitler in Germany. I never said Bush was Hitler, per se. I did however equate his inclinations with the similarities to the Nazi regime.
  14. Or how about the ones showing the few MILLION that were NOT out celebration. Mushy propaganda always works doesn't it? Baghdad is a city of 5 MILLION and 1000 came out?
  15. I know he does. They resemble eachother pretty uncannily. Hahaha.
  16. http://www.takebackthemedia.com/bushnonazi.html See, Bush isn't a Nazi. His family just profiteered from them! let's hear it for flag waving nationalism! woo?
  17. Reports are that about 100,000 maybe have taken off. That still leaves a few million in the city that didn't cheer and celebrate.
  18. 1000 people celebrated. Baghdad has 5 million inhabitants. If the US is squashing Saddam, where is all the support at from the people if only that small of an amount shows up? I never demeaned the ends. I just heartily disagree with the means that we got to the ends. This war IS illegal as well. I've read the law and know what I am talking about.
  19. Did anybody else find it weird in Baghdad that only a thousand or so (at last I saw on MSNBC at 4 pm) came out to celebrate? THE CITY HAS 5 MILLION INHABITANTS! If the US is rolling through there and talking to the people, how come there weren't more out there?
  20. According to Interpol, "During the six month trial, more than 200 witnesses introduced over 1000 exhibits. On 4th March 1994, exactly one year after Salameh's arrest, the jury found Salameh, Ajaj, Abuhalima and Ayyad guilty on all thirty-eight counts." So, there were 4 convicted of the 1993 WTC bombing. http://www.interpol.int/Public/Publication...R/ICPR469_3.asp CK, last time I checked, Bush and Cheney also dodged the draft and got deferrments out of going to Vietnam. 9/11, we had international support to get OSAMA BIN LADEN. Bush went and screwed that up by, NOT GETTING OSAMA BIN LADEN, the man responsible but instead going after Iraq because Bushie couldn't find bin Laden. So we go after Saddam...because they have ties with the horrible Al Qaeda organization. Never mind that the CIA can't link the two. Then the case for war changes to the fact that they have WoMD. Many of these weapons IF they even have them could be found by weapons inspectors and destroyed. But the weapons inspectors weren't allowing Bush to go to the war that he wanted to go to. Hell, they weren't even going to go to the UN before doing this except that Powell stepped in and said that he would resign if Bush didn't go to the United Nations. So, Bush went in looking for every excuse for war since he was all ready to go beforehand no matter what the UN inspectors would say. They could have said Saddam is giving us everything we need etc. etc. etc. and Bush/Ari would have found something wrong with it. After Powell's UN speech was found to be plagiarized grad school work from 1991, pictures without details, and artist's renderings the US case that they had chem/bio weapons was weak. So we said that they had nukes and Bush cited a UN report that makes no such claim. Then we went to the "it's all about the humanitarian aid". Granted we never gave a f*** when the UN sanctions killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and the US even made it a crime to give food etc. to the Iraqis and the penalty was 12 years in prison. Then in our campaign we've accidentally killed over a thousand (conservative minimum) and still more to come. This has also caused membership in terrorist groups to spike in an increase. This war is poor foreign policy and will lead to more terror attacks in response to this. And don't make me out to be an inhuman monster, CK. I don't think Saddam is any angel. However, going out and having a vigilante cowboy war to get rid of him was not the right policy to take in this situation.
  21. How about opening fire on that car of women and children? Or the missile that flew into the market? Or the snipers taking shots to get soldiers when there are "expendible" civilians in the way? (their excuse, "the b**** wouldn't move") We've done our fair share of harming Iraqi civilians.
  22. Wednesday is my busy day (class 11, 12, 1, 2) and I was also helping out with an event sponsored by PRIDE so I only recently got back to my room, haha. What I saw on TV seemed to be one side of the event. I've read plenty of news reports from the Guardian etc. that have shown many Iraqis angry at the US for civilian slaughter, bombing mistakes etc. What is on TV is only one side and there are 2 sides to every story, no matter how much the pro-Bush media wants to spin it. But then again, what would I know, I'm just a French/German/Russian anti-war hippie loving commie.
  23. Send me a PM thru SoxTalk and I'll give you my e-mail, probably won't get to it for another day or two since I got 2 meetings and am helping out with a PRIDE event today.
  24. I knew that a lot of Rush's dittoheads took his word like gospel but Jeebus H. Christpunchers! How f***ing stupid do you have to be to believe that s***? Come on now, Iraq taking Shea Stadium...that wouldn't set off anybody's BULLs*** DETECTORS?
