  1. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/deanimator.html Since there is so much doom and gloom on the SLP board, I figured let's add something fun to the mix. A pretty addicting zombie shooter -- toggle with shift in between the pistol and the shotgun. My high score is 230.
  2. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) For the same reasons Jimmy Carter, Mel Martinez and others hate America when they suggest Gitmo has become a problem, of course. Yes, it must be nice to live in such a simple world of absolutes. If you're not with us, you're against us and you hate America. If you think there may be some possibility we have miscalculated in the runup to war and thereafter, you are against us and you hate America. If you excercise your constitutional right to free speech but say something critical of the war or the Administration, you are against us and hate America. Hey, that is easy. It sure as Hell beats thinking. I get reminded of the old quote from Senator Jordan in the 1962 classic "The Manchurian Candidate" -- "I despise John Iselin and everything that Iselin-ism has come to stand for. I think if John Iselin were a paid Soviet agent, he could not do more to harm this country than he's doing now." Just substitute in the Bush administration for Iselin and terrorist in for Soviet agent and we have a pretty accurate quote for the current times.
  3. Which begs the statement Flaxx, Why do Congressional anti-war Republicans hate America so much?"
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) Wow...when the WaPo is considered "Ultra-Liberal"...wow, i'm just left to shake my head. I think he was engaging in a little of ye olde sarcasm because a lot of people here demean the NYT for being a "mouthpiece of the left" (all the while proclaiming Fox News is fair and balanced).
  5. Nuke, fun American idea -- "innocent until proven guilty". If these "pieces of filth" are so guilty then perhaps the US government would have no qualms in actually bringing them before a trial where they have the right to counsel? Nah, instead they'll just wait for years without bringing charges like they did to Jose Padilla. Because that sounds like strict Constitutional protections of due process and the writ of habeas corpus to me And as Chuck Hagel said today on FNC, this sort of behavior is putting our own troops in a hard way if they are captured. Plus, military tribunals don't have a leg to stand on legally in this case of trying supposed terrorists. In the words of the Supreme Court's 1866 ruling Exparte Milligan, the leading precedent on this issue: "[T]he Constitution was intended for a state of war, as well as a state of peace, and is equally binding upon rulers and people at all times and under all circumstances." When the Sixth Amendment mandates that in "all criminal prosecutions" certain rights should apply, including the right to a jury trial, the framers mean what they say. And the Supreme Court has understood the injunction. It is undisputed law that if the civilian courts are open and functioning, the armed forces cannot convene a military commission or tribunal to try offenses that fall within the civilian courts' jurisdiction.
  6. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) For all of those b****ing about Hermanson, please provide a name of who shoulda been pitching the ninth.... Shingo could have been in (purely Devil's advocate here) -- pitcher's park, players not familiar with him... It was a team loss. RISP and can't get them in, especially when Mark, Pod and Iguchi all K'ed with runners on the corners. The offense s*** itself tonight. Ozzie couldn't manage his way out of a wet paper bag tonight...Frank/Everett on the bench, PH for Mark. And goddamnit, it'd be nice if we had a person who could play 1B on the bench. That way, there could have been a pinch runner for Slonerko who could have gotten in safely on that play. Putting in an already struggling Hermanson was just the coup de grace.
  7. I'm sorry but they don't need ten (10) FBI agents looking into this matter. It is such a non-story that it isn't even worth covering, let alone the non-stop coverage of it. And hey, if any of my relatives was stupid enough to leave friends/chaperones at a bar or not go out with them (all while in another country where they don't know where things are) and then go off with random people that they didn't know, then they deserve what they get (especially if she was at the bar with other people from her class & they let her go). For an honors student, she sure seems like she was a moron.
  8. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) Anyone have a link to his sportscast? I'm may be the only one who has yet to enjoy his call. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/sportsnews.html
  9. http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=44624 Its cool that the administration is open to them coming -- but it is only showing that the administration played the Christian right and evangelicals like a cheap fiddle during the elections. Hence the Christian right website noted above is up in arms about this.
  10. That sucks for Honel. I knew him in high school -- wasn't a great guy but near senior year he was a lot less cocky and eating humble pie. Wish him all the best on getting things together again.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) There is speculation that she was drugged, but that's besides the point. Harsh? Yes. Crass? Yes. True? Yes. Ignorant? Yes. Assanine? Yes. Karma... ? Probably. Taking quotes from the story that "The Alabaman was last seen at a local bar about 1:30 a.m. Memorial Day (search), getting into a car with three islanders she'd apparently befriended." Now this means either 1 of 2 things: a. her friends/chaperones left her alone with people she didn't know at all or b. the girl decided to go off by herself to a bar with people she didn't know. Toddlers knows "Stranger = Danger" so why can't 18 year olds figure it out?
  12. How is this even a national news story? Oh wait, I know..."Poor poor Southern white girl gets lost in nation full of dark skinned people." If the girl is dumb enough to get into a car by herself with 3 people she doesn't know then she deserves what happened. Boo hoo, we probably lost a moron. Harsh? Yes. Crass? Yes. True? Yes. There is a little thing in our heads called a brain, people. f***ing use it. "Hmm, should I get into a car by myself with 3 people I barely know at all in another country where I don't know where anything is at? Why yes, that seems like an excellent idea!" I've had it up to here with the constant news coverage of this idiot who got lost because she is a moron.
  13. http://www.antiwar.com/blog/index.php?id=P2149 Crazy story about some contractors supposedly firing on Marines and then being detained.
  14. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) Thats the one about the guy on the plane right? Yep. It is a really fun book to read -- pretty novel idea with the page numbering. Choke is pretty good...although I was disappointed with Lullaby. While out there, it just didn't grab me like his other books were able to.
  15. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) Hilarious picture? This guy is freaky lookin. Where is that one crazy ass picture of Schoeneweis where he had the buggy eyes and the crazy ears at? Cuz it should totally be interjected as a similar photo in this thread since it is strikingly similar in appearance to this crazy f***er..
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) For those who are interested... wish us luck. If the baby feels like cooperating, we should be able to find out the baby's sex tonight, along with how it is developing. Congrats! And hopefully you can find out the baby's sex and it cooperates -- unlike me when I was in the womb who just kept mooning the ultrasound thingy.
  17. Well, you'd have to be high to even watch a season of Illini football.
  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) I'm getting a little tired of the garbage they're showing on ESPN. Spelling Bees, LPGA (I don't even like regular golf), juggling, poker (that's not a f***ing sport), tennis. It's alright to cover these things on Sportscenter, but they don't need to air these things for hours. The most hilarious is when they used to show Magic:The Gathering tournaments on ESPN.
  19. How did the American public get bamboozeled so badly by these two idiots? I think it also says something about the American public and how much people give a damn about being informed & the media's coverage (or more accurately, the lack thereof) of the election cycles. Hell, the two parties make up the rules and run the debate structure and have an open contempt to keep out third parties. It is not just scary that the two candidates for President are blithering morons -- but scarier still that so many millions of Americans voted for Tweedledumb and Tweedledumber. /voted.libertarian.so.can.cast.stones.
  20. Surprisingly, my favorite reference for female masturbation "plunging the happy hole" wasn't on Tex's list. Another favorite is "Firing the Surgeon General"
  21. Southsider, Why would the English music scene want to assault Greg Norman?
  22. I just finished "50 Things You're Not Supposed to Know Vol. 2" by Russ Kick. It has a lot of interesting factoids that not many people have heard about or know -- definitely a good and a quick read. Now I'm reading "The Bush Dyslexicon" by Mark Crispin Miller. It is a look at the way that elections have become so dependent on television and how empty and devoid of any substance the coverage is. I got three giant piles of 20+ books that I need to start wading my way through.
  23. IIRC, Rummy was using Amnesty reports in 2003 to justify the invasion of Iraq. If the Bushistas want to defame Amnesty as incorrect and therefore shouldn't be listened to as legitimate, then doesn't it kind of serve to shoot themselves in the foot as well?
  24. http://slate.msn.com/id/2119864/ Norvell is London bureau chief for Fox News, and on May 20 he let the mask slip in, of all places, the Wall Street Journal. So far, the damage has been contained, because Norvell's comments—in an op-ed he wrote decrying left-wing bias at the BBC—appeared only in the Journal's European edition. But Chatterbox's agents are everywhere. Here is what Norvell fessed up to in the May 20 Wall Street Journal Europe: Even we at Fox News manage to get some lefties on the air occasionally, and often let them finish their sentences before we club them to death and feed the scraps to Karl Rove and Bill O'Reilly. And those who hate us can take solace in the fact that they aren't subsidizing Bill's bombast; we payers of the BBC license fee don't enjoy that peace of mind. Fox News is, after all, a private channel and our presenters are quite open about where they stand on particular stories. That's our appeal. People watch us because they know what they are getting. The Beeb's institutionalized leftism would be easier to tolerate if the corporation was a little more honest about it. ---- Kinda shoots down the "Fair and Balanced" slogan they throw at you 2972349823749324 times in a segment.
  25. Indians radio announcers: "This is what happens when you get the two best bullpens in the league together. You'll be here for a while."
