I think there probably needs to be a floor as well. I don't have a problem with the payroll ceiling but if they have that, they should have a payroll floor and have teams be taxed if they don't spend enough.

There would be a little more urgency by the players if this were true. If the sox pull out on one of them they lose a lot of leverage.

I wouldn't stop waiting on him. I think there is still a chance to land both (though small). And Harper could ignite the fan base unlike Machado would. it doesn't hurt to wait it out.

I believe this to be the case with the LAD too... I think the we have the best offer and nobody else is really bidding but Boras is trying to get us to up our offer.

Interesting that mlb.com has Kameron Misner at #11 with very high ranking on all his tools, and fangraphs does not list him at all.
