Oops. I was afraid of the "year after the amazing state title season blues" hitting the program. Then I read the story. We got beat on a flea flicker and late field goal on the road. Team will show if it still has the eye of the tiger next game or if it's gonna be a down year. All that excitement after winning state ... we've not been a football school in the past so the boys might need some time to want to dominate year by year. Then again ... a flea flicker won them the game and that's a gadget flukey play. Champs aren't dead yet.

My son tipped me off to this and I thought that @greg775 and others might enjoy it — Brother Rice is doing a series of YouTube videos about their current season. Sort of a behind the scenes all access series — think NFL Hard Knocks for a high school football team. A shame they didn’t start this last year with the state championship winning team. But they could always win it again this year. Here’s the first episode:

Anyone know the story with Providence Catholic firing their head coach? He took the team to the 5A state championship game last year and lost to St. Francis. His team is rated #1 in class 5A and is also undefeated so far this season. The rumor I read is that an alumni/donor (might be a teacher) complained about him because he wasn’t playing his kid, who isn’t even on the varsity team.

People don't get fired for that little unless someone has written a check for millions. There is probably a lot more to it.

Yeah, there is something they don't want out, 100%. Guys like this don't get run off without a damned good reason, and it isn't benching someone's kid unless something crazy happened.

Damn, the football coach alone is a full time paid position? Damn, must be nice to have Catholic school money.

Be careful of that number, as it doesn't take into account WHO you are educating. It is a lot easier to have a much lower number when you can legally discriminate against who you educate. Trust me when I say they aren't educating the most expensive children out there.

Real Sox news has kept me active on this board which is awesome but I wandered in here as the MC BR game will be a great game if BR can figure out how to cover, if not MC will walk away with a win or BR offense will have to control he clock and score 30.

The Providence thing initially was he had to have done something but Plantz is not letting it die so I am thinking the parent stuff has some legs and that is too bad.

BR has back-to-back games against MC and Fenwick the next two weeks. At least they are home games. That’s rough.

The Providence Catholic story is still a strange one and very fishy. There are even rumors that the OC Adam Nissen collaborated with the parents and lower class men players to get Plantz ousted, since he took over as interim head coach. Not a good look that they lose their first game of the season to Nazareth right after firing Plantz.

Hi haven't been able to log on. Am wondering how good Br. Rice is this year. I think we are 2-2. Haven't been able to watch any games yet on Br Rice TV. My general feeling is this team will peak late once the state title glisten wears off the kids and they realize they are in a dogfight. Don't like the way Loyola killed our defense late. TD after TD.

I doubt we'll beat Mt Carmel. Are the playoffs in jeopardy?

Thanks for the link on the Rice youtube stuff. I will watch and try to get a feel if everybody's fat and happy after the state title. I know it's changed my attention a bit. We finally won state so I am not stressed about my high school team. I like Q's program.
