Yes, and they probably told the league to do whatever they wanted because they knew the rebuild was happening. Hopefully when it's time to win, they get some favors.

I saw there's like a 10-game stretch in May where they play in LA, Seattle, and Arizona.

After the first week, the Sox play 44 of 66 games on the road. They're going to suck...then they'll make some trades...then they'll suck a little more.

 

It is kind of crazy how they start the year, the first 5 homestands are followed by longer road trips

That hot start last year which lasted through just 20% of the season really masked how bad the team actually was. The Sox played worse the remaining 80% of the season than the 2013 team did which lost 99 games. That was with Sale and Eaton. How anyone can think this team that completely stunk up the joint the last 120 games of last year, from the beginning/middle of May all the way through to the end, will somehow be better this season WITHOUT Sale and Eaton is beyond me.

 

Face it, folks. It's "Sit back, strap it down, and hope Hahn can dig the Sox out of the hole he, KW and Reinsdorf put us in" time.

They COULD have been way better if after only making the two trades starting the rebuild they decided to spend a little bit of money and acquire a free agent catcher and somebody like the Royals got in Soler, plus maybe sign the best of the free agent crop of pitchers.

I've said it before but our infield is actually good with Frazier, Anderson, Saladino and Abreu and our outfield "could" be 2/3s OK if Melky has a bit better year than last year and Quentin (I mean Avi) finally puts it together at the plate and the guy we got from the Cardinals is OK in center.

 

There's no reason to have as many vets as we have and not try to win. I know I repeat myself, but I didn't start the thread, either. Do u all agree with me??

The biggest change for the positive is no more Robin. That should be good for at least 10 extra wins alone. The only thing is that's offset by the loss of Sale, Eaton, and others. I don't see us being worse, but don't see us being better either.

Sox were not very good last year so it is not going to far out on a limb to suggest that they might be better this year.

If you just look at the 2016 Opening Day roster it is not hard to imagine that, even without Sale and Eaton, this team could be somewhat of an improvement.

There have been a lot of additions by subtraction off of that 2016 roster: John Danks, Matt Latos, Matt Albers, Austin Jackson (given that he did not play most of the year), Jimmy Rollins, Brett Lawrie...

And Robertson, who blew a lot of critical leads and games will likely be traded before too long.

It's laughable the team was looking to contend trotting out Rollins, Danks, Latos and Jackson in retrospect. Albers, whatever (middle reliever) but going into the season with Rollins and Jackson and Danks as major pieces was serious fan level wishcasting on the part of the FO. Hahn definitely deserves critique for that.
