September 29, 200322 yr Since being recalled on August 21st, hes had 23 ABs. That means nothing... Actually, Roman, he was recalled on June 10th...he was in AAA for all of May. And since June 1st, he has had: 97 ABs, 37 H, 6 Doubles, 6 HRs, 22 RBI, and only 11 K's. Quick math will tell ya that is a .381 Avg, and most of those ABs came late in the game, as a PHer.

I messed up on his promotion. But either way, Everett and Miles should be here. Dorn should not... Roman, it isnt all about production for every player. Economics is a part of this game, whether you like it or not. Everett at 7+ mill vs. AaRow at under 500K, sorry, this one to JR and the boys is a no-brainer. Rowand is a better defensive outfielder, plays as hard as Everett, doesn't have the power that Carl has, but with the rest of the lineup, that $$$ is better spent elsewhere.

September 29, 200322 yr Min arbitration prices for Carl & Robbie: Robbie: 5.1MIL Carl: 7.32MIL I think the SOX can win both these arbitration amounts if they were to accept. Carl ranks 23rd in OPS amongst OFs in MLB. He ranks 19th in the AL in Sag's RPG. Robbie ranks 22nd in OPS amongest 2B in MLB. He ranks 74th in the AL in Sag's RPG. In Robbie's case he's simply not worth 5.1MIL right now, but because of his D I'm willing to pay him that for 1 yr. He rk's 21st in RBI, & 12th in R for 2B. I definitely offer these guys arbitration. If they decline then the team that signs them gives the SOX a decent compensation pick. Ideally KW would work a deal out with the agents so that they would decline so that the SOX can keep trying to sign them as FA's but still get the picks if they can't.

September 29, 200322 yr After doing the research (see 2004 thread), I've re-evaluated my priorities. More important than re-signing Colon, Everett, & Alomar is the signing of Kazuo Matsui. A GG, SB & RBI machine at SS. That best defines Kazuo. JR make the call. Adios Val. Thanks for the memories.

It sounds like Matsui will be $10 mil by himself, maybe higher by the success of the Japanese players in MLB. I wonder if this guy is on our radar screen at all? Anybody know when the bidding process starts on Matsui?
September 29, 200322 yr Excuse me but I guess everyone is happy with our steller bullpen I'm not. We need a player who's batting .300+ along with Maggs near the top of the lineup and a closer. I'm not 100% convinced on Flash and Marte.
