Sunday Baseball for the Sox Faithful

Featured Replies

Thought I would start this today. Let's strive mightily to win the game because it's more fun than losing

I don't know who Gioliti is but Giolito is on the mound today. ;)

Gio's breaking stuff looks way better.

Davidson is back. :)

Not a ton of good swings off of Giolito

That 4th inning looked REALLY easy for Gio

Love that pitch he's used to strikeout Upton twice

He looks really, really good through 5.

Yay gio

Throwing strikes=Good

Not missing bats=Bad

Despite the great performance, I'm not encouraged that Giolito has been 90-92 today. I honestly don't know what to expect from him velocity wise. I've heard mid 90s and he's been low 90s ever since the 2nd inning of last start. That velocity is meat in the majors usually from a RHP.

Edited by Jack Parkman

Hopefully Hahn resists the temptation to trade him. We need the big G along with several other players to form a core to build the team around.

Only 4 Ks but he got 12 swings and misses, that's pretty good. I agree that the velocity is a bit concerning though.

Giolito 7 inning shutout. :)

Easy last out :)

That Iglesias guy with Detroit swung on 4 pitches that were outside the strike zone. He cheated the Tigers because of his over aggressiveness. Not that I'm complaining.

Petricka strikes again!

He is whoever you want him to be. Concentrate more on all the wurds I spill right

LG looked good

I knew the new Gio would be better than reylo. I called it on this board before he ever threw a pitch in the big leagues. On a side note, why isn't reylo on our top 30 prospects on MLB.com anymore when Moncada and Gioloto are?

Not a lot of hard contact off Giolito today. He induced a lot of pop ups and jammed shot weak grounders.

Good! That's the only way, besides trips to the DL, the Sox can secure a top 3 pick because the line up looks good.

He's exceeded the limit of IP for rookies.

Congrats to Giolito. First ML win. :)

Awesome. Another White Sox win and a badass performance from Gio!!!

Ausmus on Giolito: "He wasn’t one of these young pitchers that comes up throwing 95 to 97 mph. He pitched."

The kid is smart....he is going to have some struggles because his mechanics are still a work in process, but he's a smart kid who understands the game. There is a lot about his delivery and stuff that reminds me of Gavin Floyd (with a bit more juice on his fastball when working and a slightly better changeup).
