Was reading Kiley McDaniel's chat today and fangraphs STILL thinks Cease is a reliever. Their stance on both Cease and Medeiros is baffling.

  • Also kudos to Chuck, as he's been the MVP of the rebuild so far. He's had 3 straight days of podcasts. His podcast last week with Hostetler was simply awesome.  No doubt in my mind Chuck has been push

Just listened to Garfien's podcast, some interesting tidbits. If Madrigal was taken 1-3, Sox were going to take Alec Bohm. Garrett Guest (Midwest Cross Checker) was adamant in taking Steele

  • You mean the whole KW insisting on Singer was a ruse? No, I find that hard to believe that a FO would leak false information.

Hahn at his press conference today said Dunning is making progress and no surgery is being discussed at this point. That's all I saw, he didn't elaborate on what exactly there were doing or what he was doing. It appears he's not going to be pitching for awhile. We'll see what happens in the spring, if they are wrong it will cost them about six months of potential rehab by not doing the surgery immediately.

We'll see.

Either way he would miss all of 2019. In your sky is falling and the Sox are idiots scenario he might miss a month or two of 2020 in addition.  I am curious why you think he needs surgery though.

Not saying he does. My point is no one knows anything about what is going on. Sox aren't saying, much like Rodon's issues over a year and a half. Turned out he did need surgery.

I was just hoping he could pitch so the Sox would know one way or the other if surgery is actually needed. With him not pitching the Sox really don't know his status until he gets back on a mound I'm assuming next February.

And I recall a post from PTATC where he said (paraphrasing) that the majority of these injuries progress to the point where surgery is usually necessary. Don't recall the specific comment but that was the gist of the post as I recall.)

Those kind of articles always drive me crazy for one reason.  They called his "floor" a LOOGY.  That is absurd.  He is a guy who doesn't throw 100, is already a reliever, and has nothing that is a super plus tool about him.  To call his floor as a major league reliever specialist is nuts.

His floor is as a guy who struggles with control in the minors and doesn't make to to the upper levels of the minors, not as a major league reliever.

I appreciate the feature and the information, but that kind of writing drives me crazy.

A look a Wilbur Perez.

Side note, people really need to understand what the term "floor" actually means. His floor is not Juan Minaya. Perez is a 20 year old is the DSL who tops out at 91. His floor is a low minors reliever, not Juan Minaya who can throw near 100.

Yeah, again, this SSS series is a good idea and sometimes hits the right notes, but the person who writes them isn't super-knowledgeable on how all this works. They also in some of the early versions were throwing out scouting info that clearly wasn't theirs without citing a source, and I had to send a note to their Editor because it was pretty clear some of it was ours.

SSS just isn't good since their top dogs left.

God what a bust he's been. Was never a fan of his in that deal when it was made.

Not sure Bust is the right word. He's never been healthy enough to pitch any significant number of innings. I guess I think of "bust" as a player who doesn't meet expectations on the field, so I'm not sure it counts if he's never on the damn field.

Fortunately he was just a throw-in, 4th player in a deal. No big loss if he doesn't turn out.

You are correct. Wrong wording there on my part. But I was never a fan in general of acquiring a reliever even as a 4th piece for a top 3 pitcher in the game.

Former Sox farmhand Alex Katz was just released by BAL, real good guy, hopefully catches on somewhere
