So when does he start closing?

Aw. No Hype for what could be a very special high leverage relief prospect? The White Sox bullpen could be a nightmare for opponents in the near future. Fry, Hamilton, and Burdi will be nasty to go through. Not to mention prospects like Tyler Johnson, Frare, Burr, and Ruiz.

Wow. Shocked to see Hamilton up. Love the Sox doing it though. Kinda sticks it to Eloy's agent.

This is the day I have been waiting for. Hamilton and Burr.

Ian, do not throw away your shot.

An internally nasty bullpen will go a long way in a rebuild.

Hell yes it will. That is quite literally the worst part of the team right now. As more of these guys start to slot in and learn how to get major league hitters out, this team is going to get a ton better. A pen might have been worth 10 games this season.  Burdi isn't too far behind either.

Tonight not a save situation but he did a great job.

The only thing with set-up relievers is so many are very inconsistent. It seems like the top pure closers are pretty reliable year in and year out. But a lot of the set-up guys have roller coaster years and careers. I think Nate Jones when healthy has been one guy who has been pretty consistent as a set up but the Sox have had a lot of guys the last 10-15 years who come and go. Some of it is also the position. They have aweakness which prevents them from being the closer.

What makes a great closer is someone who has something about them that stands out as unhittable. Rivera's cutter, Hoffman's change up, Fingers's slider, Eckersley's control, and MANY guys's fastball. If you're only good with a few pitches, those are the guys who don't stay consistently great very long. So when you judge if someone is going to be a good closer, you have to ask about them, "what makes them unhittable?"

Hamilton looked good last night. His fastball is straight but he locates it well. Let's just give him time to acclimate and not jump off the ledge the first time he has a rough outing.
