The Sox were the leader in the clubhouse at that point. No one was telling you insider information at a 1 year olds birthday party in regards to the machado race. You released that information like 1 1/2 months before he signed and by all accounts the Sox were in front at that point. The Padres weren't even a threat at the time. Learn to laugh at yourself pal.
