Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him

Dodgers Josia Gray (RHP) and Cody Thomas (LH OF w/pop and approaching rule 5) for Colome and Bummer...OR....Phillies Spencer Howard (RHP) straight up for Colome. Both deals seem fair and adress needs of both parties.

Feels light.  I'd maybe do that for Colome alone, but I'd rather just keep Bummer in that scenario.

  • my only philosophy on baseball (as a young person) is that old players like colome are useless (as are saves, since I am a statnik) and should be force retired. If that's not possible, flipping them i

  • I'd say put a silly value on him and if teams dont meet it just keep him.

Yah, that 60 at bat sample size really tells us all we need to know there.

Hand (50/50 Indians keep him)

Vazquez, Pitt (depends on standings)

Yates, SD (on paper, best year of any closer and one more year of control like Colome)

Greene, Detroit

Giles, Toronto

If at least half those guys are on the market, Colome’s not going to fetch a top prospect...

On the flip side, pretty much all teams in contention need bullpen help.

FanGraphs has him 110. Guessing at update time he takes a big jump since he has yet to lose a game and has great peripherals.

or maybe he gets really lucky and wins a bunch of coin flips and ends up in the top 50!

They almost gave Joc Pederson for Bummer & Fulmer?  ?‍♂

Says who? Some teenager tweeting from his high school Civics class?

Feels light for the Sox, but I'm not going to overvalue our guys too much. I dig Gray, but if Bummer is going in the deal as well I'd like May as a centerpiece. Gray is certainly a rising prospect himself though that I am interested in.

Thomas has some pop, but the hit tool seems fringy at best

Read where Gray has never lost a game as a starter since moving to pitcher from SS in college. SSS but great stuff and pedigree. The FG guys have him #5 in Dodgers system.

I think at this point I’d go all in on getting Dustin May. I’d offer bummer colome and Garcia for May and a lower prospect. Having May along with Kopech, Giolito, cease, and potentially a free agent arm could be unreal for a rotation in the future.

If I am the Dodgers, I would not be all that keen on trading May. He's their best pitching prospect and is close to MLB ready.

That’s true but I doubt they trade lux at all and probably don’t want to trade smith. So that leaves Ruiz or May to headline a deal for relief pitching

May just be posturing by the Pirates, but this looks like an apt place to put this tweet.

Dodgers I would imagine (without looking too far into it) are going to have a serious 40 man roster crunch this offseason.  Something has to give.

Good point.

I think the Dodgers make a lot off sense but not optimistic about a Hahn - Friedman faceoff.

They have what each other need...that makes them a marriage made in heaven.

Dodgers are going to obtain bullpen help. Giants and Padres might not be sellers. Colome/Bummer might be best available option. Leverage.

I don't see SD selling.  They are closer to competing than we are.

Giants are definetely selling. Their GM was just quoted as such earlier today. Dyson, Will Smith, and Bumgardner will all be moved.

They're not gonna trade core guys but they will trade volatile relievers and fungible OF's because that's what smart teams do.

Padres have a fungible OFer I'd like....Hunter Renfro.

What are you willing to give up for him that San Diego would actually want? I assume they would want mlb ready pitching.

Then you’re overpaying for the 2.3 fWAR (on pace for 4ish) version and not the 2016-18 version.

At some point, they maybe have to choose between him and Reyes because they both put too much defensive pressure on Margot or Myers in CF to cover ground and neither of those two guys have handled it well.

What about trading Colome back to Seattle for Omar? The Sox could use a lefty catcher to platoon with McCann next year since Collins doesn't appear to be close to ready.

It was a joke. Why did the Sox need one last year?

Yikes that is a really high asking price. Lux is not getting moved, he's a top 20 prospect in the game right now. May is not far behind that either.

Gray is a guy they could potentially deal, who should appear as a backend top 100 prospect on updated lists.

Herein lies the problem
