Brantley's offensive profile fits the Sox better than any FA available, but signing him likely puts Eloy on the path to being a full-time DH. That's likely where he's headed, but he's only 24 and if the work ethic is good I think you have to try him there for a bit longer. Then you're blocking Vaughn from playing time if he looks ready early next season as well. I know Brantley can't throw at all, but I wonder if the Sox would at least be willing to try him in RF. Putting him in LF exclusively just closes a lot of doors for the Sox that I'm not crazy about.

If the NL teams knew if there was going to have a DH or not, this guy would easily get a multi-year deal.
