Should Leury Garcia try to add some more baseball IQ to his game?

Someone started the thread about TA adding power and he homered, so I figured I'd give this a try.

Leury seems to go through phases when he has several DTM moments and then he corrects himself for awhile.  Part of the reason why he has never gotten over the label of being best utilized as an all-purpose backup.

You can't fix dumb. You're born with instincts. I agree Leury has some skill(he's a majorleager) but that doesn't translate to smart.

What?? Shouldn’t the answer to every single player across the league be a “yes”???

Leury Garcia gets a lot of criticism on here, but as a switch hitting utility player he is more than useful as  he is versatile in the field and whilst not the best hitter is not the worst either. Every team needs a good utility player, the fact that Leury has ended up as a virtual everyday player is down to injuries in so many positions that he can cover. Obviously he has flaws but if he didn't he would be a regular starter earning more money and not covering virtually every position in the field and hitting too high in the order. I would rather have a Leury Garcia who at least looks like he cares than a journeyman veteran just collecting a pay cheque.

I noticed in last night's game that he wasn't doing his happy-go-lucky and laugh at everything act.  I wonder if someone thought to suggest he should try to keep his head in the game a little more earnestly.

This is something that was also talked about previous seasons. He’s kind of dumb. Haha
