Strange move. Why not Padilla or Peralta or some other reliever. Those guys suck, but the pen is fried after the last 2 games and May as well get some help back there for the weekend. Instead you call up Scholtens to take Clevingers spot in the rotation which doesn’t come until Monday. Stupid.

Actually the genius GM has starting pitching depth in the minors. Unfortunately our GM simply forgot to actually draft and develop good pitching depth in the minors.

As of today, team ERA stats in the Sox farm system:

Low A - Kannapolis - 4.36 ERA - 7th of 10 teams

High A - Winston-Salem - 5.32 ERA - 11th of 12 teams

AA Birmingham - 5.62 ERA - 8th of 8 teams

AAA Charlotte - 5.92 ERA - 20th of 20 teams 

Really love to know how these scouts and pitching coaches in our farm system are still employed. Oh that's right I forgot...the top boss is Rick Hahn.

You're right though, it doesn't matter with this team and season.

Julio Teheran has something like a 1.53 ERA…any team in baseball could have had him this spring.

Brewers pounced when Padres had to let him go from minor league deal.

Now Scholtens has pitched in back-to-back games, so who's going to pitch Monday?  Bullpen day? Unless Lynn throws a 9-inning gem, those guys are all fried.  They have a roster spot because they have not moved Davis Martin to the 60-day. Fisher?  Roll the bones and bring up Burke?
