The Caitlin Clark Effect is alive and real as Iowa Hawkeyes are selling out arenas.

Per University of Iowa assistant director of strategic communications Bailey Turner, if the Hawkeyes’ final six road games wind up as sellouts, Iowa will have helped sell out or break an attendance record in 30 of 32 regular season games this season.

Terrence Shannon Jr. arrested for rape. Suspended from the Illini. What a dope.

If he was averaging 3 points a game he wouldn’t be suspended, he would be dismissed.

Back on the team after he sued the University in federal court and won.

Whole thing is so awkward.  I know all about the case, but it’s insane he’s being allowed to play with a rape charge filed.

She's like MJ. She sells out arenas. Her acting skills need some work. The State Farm commercial she was pretty  bad, and that "blindside" hit she took leaving the court yesterday? Isn't flopping a technical these days?

One...her makeup looks very awkward.

She's getting more and more comfortable though.

The interesting thing out of all this is so much has already been written about her collision and scoring 45 and almost nothing about OSU's huge comeback victory.  Like an afterthought, almost. (Not unlike the Angel Reese and Clark Show 10 months ago that played out like a Shakespearean drama.)

If you have watched AIR, you notice the aura and mystique of MJ plays a more important role than the person himself.  It's more what he represented to so many.

Oh she will hardly be hurting. But some of it will. WCBB is just a better and far more popular product than WNBA.

Especially if she goes pro this year and ends up in Indy, she will replace all of that money, and probably more.

Certainly the closest equivalent in the league to Iowa City.

Boyfriend is Connor McCaffrey...that's probably a consideration, staying as close as possible to the Midwest branding.

Hawkeyes actually could be the Hoosiers/Hackman/picket fence movie come alive if not for Hannah Stuelke lol.  Home of basketball to most and NCAA as well.  Greg Doyel of the Indy Star already wrote that article about the pluses of her landing there.

The Jan. 21 Ohio State-Iowa matchup on NBC and Peacock was the most-watched regular season women's college basketball game on any network since 2010. Viewership peaked at 3.9 million viewers and the broadcast averaged 1.93 million viewers.

South Carolina at LSU peaked at 2.1 million viewers and carried an average of 1.56 million viewers. Heat vs. Celtics, the second-highest-rated game of the night, had an average of 1.39 million. It's the second-highest-rated women's basketball game of the season, trailing only Iowa vs. Ohio State.

A day after her autographed NIL trading card sold for $78,000, Clark came five 5 points shy of No. 3 on the all-time list with 38 points in a dominant win over Nebraska on Saturday.

Greg Mittelman just wanted to see Caitlin Clark play. As a University of Iowa alum living in Chicago, his best chance was the NCAA runner-up Hawkeyes’ Jan. 31 game at Northwestern. He tried to snag single-game tickets. But when they sold out in October – just days after becoming available – he found another option.

“I am a season-ticket holder for Northwestern women’s basketball,” Mittelman said.

He has yet to attend a game, but the investment was more than worth it. He purchased four season tickets for $150 total. For Wednesday’s game, general-admission seats like Mittelman’s were listed at an average price of $230 on SeatGeek. Each.

.….

Vanderbush and her spouse, Rosalie Dominik – also a former Northwestern women’s basketball player – bought season tickets despite living thousands of miles away in North Carolina.

“We had in mind that we wanted to see Caitlin Clark play basketball,” Vanderbush said.

They bought season tickets along the sideline for $99 each. Seats in their section for Wednesday’s game are listed for a minimum of $600 on the secondary market, with some sellers asking for more than $2,000.

“I would say we might continue buying season tickets now even though we can’t make it very often,” Dominik said.

On Wednesday night, they got more than they asked for. Clark’s 35 points in No. 3 Iowa’s 110-74 win were enough to move her past Kelsey Mitchell (Ohio State) into second place on the NCAA all-time women’s scoring list and into first on the Big Ten’s list. All of it in front of 7,039 fans, the first sellout in Northwestern women’s basketball history.
