Jays fans I know on Twitter are NOT happy about this.

Nor should they be.  Maybe he's going to be their 3rd catcher as well as a back up infielder?

More like a replacement for Espinal, who they will package with Manoah

I'd love to be in on a Manoah deal.

Change of scenery with control would make sense. More sense than Soroka.

Manoah was completely broken last year. If he were cheap to acquire I'd be all for it as a change of scenery guy, but Toronto probably asks for too much in return.

IKF and Keirmeier…are they trying a run prevention thing up there?  Maybe they feel there is more value in preventing runs in this market?

Thats the only thing I can think of.

There's a huge difference in how they're perceived as team/clubhouse presences.  Soroka is A+. If the Sox are all about building a culture Manoah may not be a guy they want to bring in.

That is true. I do seem to remember some rumblings about Manoah handling his struggles/demotion poorly.

They still need more offense in the OF...Kiermaier can't be the only add.

He got married this offseason fwiw.

How that impacts him is anyone's guess...as we have seen with Lucas Kopech and TA7.

Burger wouldn't still be playing baseball without his wife's persistent support, for example.

I don’t disagree with you and as an Os fan, I wish they would pay 200+M for Bellinger.

Unless you’re moving Springer and Vlad into a time share at DH with Bellinger moving between the OF and 1B or trading Varsho, idk how they will be able to. KK add is puzzling because it moves Varsho to a corner spot where he is less valuable than if he played CF, which he probably will do a lot based on KK’s past health.

They seem to be willing to make Varsho a part-time/platoon player until he emerges from his offensive malaise.

As a lefty he’s still going to get most of the starts. He still only makes sense in CF. Should have added a power bat to LF.

Jays traded too much for Varsho and he basically flopped, at least for what they were hoping to get. His ability to cover CF has been his most valuable trait. Kirk splits time at DH so there isn't much room to add ABs, and I don't think Toronto pays Bellinger without an open everyday position.

The Twitter account that broke both of the Jays signings said they’re not getting Bellinger or Chapman.
