5 White Sox on New Keith Law Top 100

Rankings and small summary/blurb

Montgomery 42  -As to SS, consensus in industry turned for the better and its now 50/50 that he can stick at SS. Felt injury limited him last year and rust/exhaustion also hurt him in AFL. Given a chance to "reset" and become the prior high contact and all fields hitter we saw previously, should continue March to Chicago and be everyday SS or 3B, with 4-5 WAR upside due to hit tool/position.

Quero 67- Average arm, but 50-55 defense, OBP north of .350 and a little pop, which is "a starter on majority of teams". Everyday catcher.

Ramos 69-Solid average defender at 3B with 55 arm and could move to 2B if needed. Could hit for avg, 10% walk and 20-25 HR, with possibility of 30 HRs and some All Star teams.

Nastrini 76-Odds remaining starter over 50%

Schultz 79- No. 1 starter upside or top end reliever potential depending on health and coordination

Summary of everyone's reaction:

f*** yeah five Sox prospects with good-to-glowing reviews.

But also, why is Montgomery so low? (I understand his explanation, again, summarizing reactions)

God I hope Gonzalez makes us eat our words. The amount of 2023 1st round alternatives on that list makes me sad.

Maybe Jacob Gonzalez is one of those dudes that internalizes everything and becomes the best player from the class.

I really, really hope.

The fangraphs writeup on him was promising as to the work he put in during the fall.

And this dude was picked right after the Sox picked Gonzalez.  And he sits #5 in Baltimore's rankings (#6 per others who have Balt as the #1 system in baseball).

Anyway 5  in the top 100, 2 of whom were acquired for essentially riffraff (or at least players who no longer had any value to the Sox).  Have to say that Hahn did some of his best work as he was sliding out the door.

Yeah what's fair is fair....to get 2 Top 100s for 3 months of Giolito, Lynn and Kelly was a masterstroke by Hahn. That was huge.

If Nastrini can stick in the rotation as like a 3 that would be massive.

I'd absolutely love if the next core was built around Hahn deadline acquisitions + players drafted while he was GM. Getz would get some credit for the latter, but it'd be funny as s%*# if Quero, Nastrini, Eder, Leasure, etc. are all big contributors.

I'm also holding out hope for Colas, but I think he needs to flee Pedro to survive.

And that’s not the entire haul.  Leasure looks like he could be a legit setup man.  Bush may not have a ton of ceiling, but could be a very solid BOR starter.  Lee is at least a decent 3rd string catcher with the upside for more (which is fine for Graveman).  Even Carela is a semi interesting arm.  It’s almost like someone else was GM at the time, because Hahn never sold mediocre to good (not great) players and got these type of returns.

Of course that prick bastard Law underrates the s%*# out of Montgomery. In his description of Montgomery, it should say "Ranked lower because I hate the White Sox "

Were there team rankings as well?

Was great reading positives like this for Nastrini.
