Are the White Sox one of 18 teams in on this guy?

"In baseball’s ever-evolving landscape of redemption stories, Kyle Hart‘s trajectory stands as a testament to perseverance and adaptation. The southpaw, who once wore the Boston Red Sox uniform before becoming a sensation in the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO), has emerged as an intriguing prospect for the New York Yankees as they shape their pitching arsenal for 2025. His story exemplifies how international baseball can revitalize careers and create unexpected opportunities."

From Pinstripe Alley...Yankees' fan site...cited in OP.

2024 was already the Year of the Hoosiers, so why not another "feel good" comeback story?

Guess it would have been sweeter revenge had he ended up pitching for NY against his former team, the Red Sox.

Will save WestEddy the time

Disastrous deal last year.  The only mistake Preller made.

Profar Higashioka Cease King Vasquez Solano Matsui Peralta Tanner Scott Estrada Jason Adam (11 names!!!) all contributed mightily to what could arguably have been the best team in baseball over the final two months of the season.

Had almost zero misses...Woo Suk Go is just asking for it with that name...unfortunately.

Damn, they stole our Fedde v2.  Getz could have flipped him for another Vargas at the deadline…  😢

It's not like he should have been a secret if Sox executives were reading this website lol.  They have had since the first week of January to recruit rotation depth pieces.

Probably get Flexen or Jose Quintana back at this rate.

Fegan said he heard it’s unlikely they add another starter

Seems a mistake...based on last year.

Martin coming back from surgery...Br.Wilson hasn't consistently started...Perez is getting up there in age.

Sophomore season for Cannon challenging as he's been scouted now and won't sneak up on anyone.

Burke a total wild card after three impressive starts against soft lineups.

I guess Iriarte is going to be next man up from how it looks this early.

Charlotte rotation likely has: Mason Adams, Jake Eder, Nick Natsrini and Jairo Iriarte. I'd rather just give those guys starts unless they signed a real guy like Quintana

This feels like the infield argument all over again.

One thing is pretty certain.  Venable seems wedded to the Tauchman/Slater platoon in RF and Taylor seems destined to take over CF...leaving Fletcher buried.

Eder would be a shock after everyone has all but given up on him as a starter.  The Bush injury does open up a bit of an opportunity to jump in the internal pecking order.

Agree 100%. Plus, you got guys like Carela and Gowens in AA while we all know that Schultz and Smith will have guaranteed opportunities and Taylor could be right behind them. I would love to see what we have in this wave of prospects this year, given the fact the Sox will lose >100 games this year no matter what veterans they sign.

Realistically?  This.  Unless we are going to spend a little to get an actual flip candidate, there are plenty of guys who could cover those innings.

SAN DIEGO -- No, this technically wasn’t Kyle Hart’s big league debut. The 32-year-old left-hander had previously made four appearances for the Red Sox in 2020.

But, well, that was 2020. The sport looked different then, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. So while Hart had pitched in the big leagues, he never before had pitched in front of fans. He’d never before pitched in a true big league environment.

Until Monday night.

Diamond Club is opened. Can an admin dump this thread there?

He signed for only $1.5 million (with a 2026 option) and came out of the KBO just like Fedde...we will see over time whether Martin Perez or Kyle Hart was the better move, as the Padres at the time of the signing didn't even have Perez money available.

Same with Sheets, Gurriel, Heyward, Connor Joe and Maldonado/Elias Diaz, Jose Iglesias...all signed for White Sox money or less.

For real man. Start another Padres thread and dump all your weird updates in there.

I guess it's weird to know about other teams in baseball that are currently more interesting than the Sox...

Specifically, GM strategies to buy veterans on the cheap in February and March instead of jumping the market early...no guarantee that strategy will work every year, but at least it's a strategy of allocating limited resources.

Just like utilizing tornado bats or finding a plethora of flexible relievers that can double as starters or openers.
