There were guys who were supposed to be veteran leaders those on the “chaos” team

They were the veterans.  We also saw a clubhouse descend into "chaos" when Tony LaRussa was hired, after Ricky Renteria had zero clubhouse problems.  Of course, would the Sox take responsibility for the putting a well out of touch manager into a group that had shown no problems in the past, and then try to blame it on pretty much every player on the team?  Well?

Jose Abreu was gone by 2023. I don't think they signed Clevenger for his leadership skills. Lynn, Graveman, Grandal and Joe Kelly all kind of stepped around their responsibilities.

Well, the guy responsible for holding people accountable in regards to that was terrible at his job.

Yes, but every single team relies on "veteran leadership" to set the tone in the clubhouse. Part of roster building is to keep the number of true psychopaths to a minimum, not pad out a lineup with them.

You been spending a lot of time in big league clubhouses?

I know what I read. I'm guessing major league managers and players have more insight than online guys.

Interesting. From my experience, the best players set club house cultures. Sometimes there might be a wiley vet that the whole league likes despite them not being very good, but that's pretty rare.

I have always read that winning is the best thing of all for a clubhouse.  I do still find it wild that if the Sox actually have to teach something, they apparently aren't able to do it.  They need pre-made players, which seems to show up with their most successful players coming from outside the organization on a regular basis.

Last year they were talking about how great the clubhouse was….now this year when they started to win a few games, the clubhouse is so much better….I agree with the above. Winning usually means clubhouse is fine. If you’re losing 100 plus and trying to talk up your clubhouse, you obviously aren’t focused on what’s important.

Around and around it goes.
