Free baseball, literally, they are letting anyone in free.  Game to resume at noon. Barons lead 5-1. Biscuits batting bottom of five, first and second with no outs and a run in.

Double play gets Barons out of the eight.  3 outs to go.

Nishida is one of several guys with no power who get on base at a high rate .400.  I think there is room for one guy like that but move them up and see what happens.  He is also pure hustle/gamer/every cliche you can come up with.

Is Nishida someone that should get a look or is he just a neat player for minors baseball?

He's a pest at the plate, a menace on the basepaths, and a joy in the clubhouse. All contact/speed/defense but no slug and a small stature that doesn't project to develop future power (though he says he's working on it!).

It's hard to expect his game to translate to higher levels, but also impossible not to root for him.

He'd be fun to watch in tank years....maybe tank years are behind us......maybe......hopefully

Smith showing is great to see, I get they need bats but that arm can't be beat.

Sounds like a fun #9 hitter if he can keep the OBP at a high level

What a fun year for the back to back champs!

Tough luck for Smith to not get a W with the delay, but he flashed impressive stuff in both playoff starts. McDougal was also ridiculous.

Barons never trailed across 4 elimination road games.

They squandered that 6-0 lead at home in the first round, then locked in for 2 wins on the road.

Lost a close one at home in this series, and then pulled off a road miracle again.

Shame we don't get a repeat Rikuu celebration chug from the home clubhouse.

Will be the highlight of some (GM's) careers.

Team Birmingham

Ironic, in that only Antonacci Bergolla Hagen and a couple of relievers will likely even see the majors from this team.

It's a successful minor league team...but will this help lead to success in the majors?  The jury's still out.

Maybe Nishida is another Meidroth...but that's not even likely.
