Old Reliable Bruce Levine says Sox interested in 1B/DH Ryan O'Hearn, had trade talks about Robert

A 735 ops (last two months of 2025) one dimensional player is basically just an older and more expensive version of Gavin Sheets...

See this is where you are mistaken.  You would NOT have autonomy to operate however you want.  We have complete evidence that Jerry interfere's with day to day operations with his teams.

In full disclosure, O'Hearn is a place filler.  He's a guy who you sign to do a job if you have nobody better to do it.  Since the Sox don't seem interested in trying to their offday catchers at 1B, it's a move that plugs a hole and fills some ABs.  You could definitely do worse, but I also can't see presenting this as some sort of a big victory either.

That's not a bad comparison, but O'Hearn seems to be more steady over the season, whereas Sheets seems to get "found out", and then has to be protected a bit.

Not in his first five seasons.

Sure, but since he met up with Fuller, he's been producing right around 20% better than the average major league rate, and that's the 3 most recent full seasons.

Wasn't that the same argument for acquiring Austin Slater as the very first move last off season?

What part? The "met up with Fuller" or the "3 most recent seasons" part? Fuller did seem to pull him back from the abyss of a horrible season, and I think the Sox saw an opportunity to get a bounce back guy cheap.

Hey, if a team knows they're going to only shop in the bins by the back door, why not grab the guy you know the most about first before everyone gets grabbed up and you're looking through lists for a guy who *might* have a comeback in him?
