2025-26 NCAA Basketball

Dr. Tom Davis was fired for losing to 1-2 seeds year after year.

Alford Lickliter McCaffrey

Blown 19 point leads against directional Louisiana teams.

Shocked in the first round and second round blowouts.

The OT loss to TN was the last really exciting NCAA second round game.

Nebraska next.

Hoiberg vs. The Wizard.

Pryce Sandfort vs. his former teammates

Mulvey and Brock Harding in postseason, Penn as well...Dix and Freeman shut out.

Iowa's only big win this year was NE.

Overtime loss last week of season, played MI down to last minute as well.

Stirtz and Manyawu were both not good at all...

Hopefully this will help with recruiting/portal transfers.

Had zero confidence in men and 90% in Hawkeye women until this weekend.

Just expected a blow out and for the women to get knocked out in Sweet 16...as UCLA twice and UConn simply demolished them.

Iowa knocked off then-No. 9 Nebraska at home in February in a five-point win, but Nebraska got revenge at home a few weeks later in overtime in the final game of the regular season.

The winner of Thursday’s contest will advance to the Elite Eight, where either Houston or Illinois will be waiting for them. While it may have seemed like a true long shot just a few weeks ago, the Hawkeyes now have a very realistic path to what would be their first Elite Eight since 1987.

First 9 vs. 1 victory since Xavier lost in 2019

Wow that was a fun game - playing with house money at this point

Either way a great story.

2000 MSU was last national title.

Six G10 in Sweet 16.

Michigan feels like team of destiny. After Cignetti and IU football...anything seems possible.

Iowa Nebraska Illinois one of them likely to Final 4.

Heck, even rooted for ISU against KY after they lost their best player.

Also UNC KY ($22 million roster) and Indiana are a hot mess.

8 of last 9 national champs have failed to make the Sweet 16 the following season. Wild.

True madness: Iowa stuns No. 1 Florida, advances to first...

WHAT. A. GAME.

Crazy if they think Ben McCollum's going to UNC...

The amazing run by Iowa continues.

Proud of Folgueiras Sage and Koch.

No idea how Nebraska ended up with four on the court for one of they key defensive possessions.

Bring on Illinois!!!

Not sure they get by Houston, though.

Houston really couldn't hit the broad side of a barn for about 90% of the game.

"Hannah Hidalgo assisting on the go-ahead basket and corralling the final rebound was only appropriate to finish a game in which she could not be stopped. The junior guard recorded a triple-double with 31 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals. She nearly earned a quadruple-double, collecting 7 assists as well in the Fighting Irish’s win." espn.com

Definitely the most exciting women's player.

The Hawkeyes rank 33rd in college basketball with their 2024-25 men’s basketball budget of $13.3 million, per Extra Points.

It’s unclear how much the Hawkeyes or the Longhorns spent on their men’s basketball roster through NIL/revenue-sharing, but it is believed to be in the general range of what it takes to be successful in the power conferences: $8 million to $10 million, minimum.

Ben McCollum age

McCollum was born on April 12, 1981. He is 44 years old, but looks a little older because of his grey hair on the sides of his head. yahoo.com/sports

Lol...wut?

Konerko must have never faced such blatant hair/related discrimination.

Or Cignetti.

Duke UCLA

ND UConn

Michigan Texas (best game for sure)

SCarolina TCU/UVA

Illinois just killing Iowa on the boards.

Feels like the end of the charmed life, but what a run it was while it lasted.

Around 25% shooting isn't going to cut it with so few second chances.

36-12 points in the paint

Illinois has more offensive rebounds than Iowa has ALL rebounds

Illini back in the final 4. It's only been 21 years.

Better than 46 years and still counting.

But no rational Iowa fan can blame their effort.

1 player on the entire roster had a Power 4 offer in Koch. Pretty sure Illinois was one of them.

Sage was ranked in the 320-350 range.

And Folguieras ran out of his magic tonight.

Was a real fun run!

Crazy UCONN comeback.

Was at least a 19 point lead.

Looked like both games today were going to be duds.

Duke broadcaster calls for technical foul on UConn after season-ending dagger

Duke radio broadcaster David Shumate encapsulated the school’s fans with his call of UConn’s heartbreaking defeat of the Blue Devils in the Elite Eight.

Shumate sounded deflated when UConn’s Braylon Mullins hit a deep 3-pointer in the closing seconds to hand the Huskies a 73-72 win, and then he called for a technical foul on Duke’s opponent, alleging that Malachi Smith ran onto the court.

“Seven seconds, tried to throw it ahead, deflected! stolen by Connecticut!” Shumate said during the call. “Two seconds! It’s Mullins up top for the win! Oh, he hit it, with three-tenths of a second to go! Malachi Smith ran off the bench! That should be a technical, but with three-tenths of a second to go, Connecticut has the lead, 73-72.”

With today's UCLA victory, Big Ten and Michigan looking to sweep all three major NCAA sports titles for the first time in decades.

UCLA baseball as well.

"The Big Ten has taken the mantle as the premier conference in all of college sports, and it isn't much of a debate.

It starts with the two main sports in college athletics, and it extends throughout most of the rest of them. Looking at just the College Football Playoffs and the College Basketball tournament, it's been all Big Ten."

Included in that is 6-0 head to head in the men's tourney.

Indiana’s Basketball Misery on Full Display in Men’s Nati...

What if the Hoosiers had hired Dusty May? Would Braylon Mullins be hitting game-winners at home? Instead, they’re leading Michigan and UConn for a championship.

NCAA women's basketball Way-Too-Early 2026-27 Top 25 rank...

UCLA is the 2026 champion -- but unranked in the first top 25 for next season. Runner-up South Carolina is No. 3.

Big Ten with 9 of the top 19 and 10 of top 23 teams for 2026-27 season.

MSU isn't far off, either.

You throw in baseball and women's volleyball and see where the NIL money is coming into play. I am not certain the SEC has deep enough pockets to sustain NIL funding against the Big 10.

Then you have that controversial $2.4 billion pe injection from California as well....10% media rights share.

Seems USC Michigan UCLA Oregon are all fighting for bigger pieces of the pie but the lower tier schools like an Iowa or Nebraska would still receive $110 million injections.

You can see the hands of Saban Meyer and Texas Tech mega booster all over the Trump proposal trying to swing balance back to the SEC/Big 12.

Read somewhere that Iowa this season had an $8-10 million war chest for men's bb after being in the $1.5 million range under Fran McCaffrey.

With Pryce Sandfort they could even have had a shot at title but probably still come up short.

The Athletic currently has 11 of Top 25 women's bb teams for 2026-27 from BIG.

Not just barely making tourney, but Top 1-6/7 seeds.

USC has last three players of the year in Watkins J.Davidson S.Hall on roster. UCLA will reload.
