WestEddy
Melissa Sage-Bollenbach previews today's matchup over at SouthSideSox: Game Thread: Reds (1-2) at White Sox (4-1) | South Side Sox Quote On the mound, it’s not all doom and gloom, though the contrast is noticeable. While the 3.43 ERA is solid enough for a top-five spot, the 1.52 WHIP shows the pitchers still shaking off some rust. However, the hurlers are at least missing bats, tied near the top of the pack with the Cubs at 49 strikeouts.

Autumn Dreamin
Easy 1-2-3 for Martin, 3 routine groundouts on 9 pitches. Sox also go down in order (Meidroth K on a Reds ABS challenge, Mune and Vargas K swinging) but saw 20 pitches at least. caulfield12
Lodolo tough match up. Down on three consecutive pitches for Mune. 4/11 5 k's
Autumn Dreamin
Sal Stewart ambushed the first pitch of the second for a HR to put the Reds up 1-0. Walk, popout, lineout, flyout to finish Martin's day. Velo was up a little from last season's averages. Colson 8 pitch groundout, Acuna hustles out an IF single, Beni stays hot with another hard hit that Acuna speeds to third on. Kelenic K, Lee groundout strands runners at the corners. Hicks in to pitch the 3rd.

I haven't tried, and don't see any way to even try. They don't think I'm even worthy of a "learn more" button.

Autumn Dreamin
Hicks still throwing 100, but gave up a 2 run shot on a splitter to Bleday after a grounder to Colson that was too slow to turn two on. Reds 3-0. Decided to stick to the heat in the next AB to K Stewart. Peters GO, Meidroth flyout, Murakami liner off the end of the bat to left for a single (on a 96mph fastball from a LHP). Vargas worked a full count, but Mune got picked off pushing his luck to get a good lead before the payoff pitch.

Autumn Dreamin
Leasure's velo was a bit down but he puts up a 0. Single to left, nice catch in right by Peters on what sounded like a would-be XBH, weak grounder, routine flyout. Vargas flyout and then Colson finally gets the Sox on the board with a HR to right center. Nice hard hit single (107 EV) for Acuna, and then Beni just misses tying the game with a deep flyout to left. Acuna steals second but gets scratched up on the slide and leaves the game. Kelenic groundout ends the frame still Reds 3-1. Edited 1 hour ago by Autumn Dreamin

Autumn Dreamin
Reds radio crew is apparently quite unimpressed by Camelback Ranch. Cannon is apparently unimpressed by the Reds batters, as he retires them in order. Sox return the favor and Lee, Peters, Meidroth go in order too. Antonacci in for Chase, Bergolla in for Colson, Dustin Harris in for Beni on defense. Official word on Acuna is that he left with a cut above his eyebrow that needed to be stitched up. Strikeout and two flyouts for Cannon's second inning. A lot more 4seam in the mix today, and it got him a 6 up/6 down outing.
Autumn Dreamin
Make that 9 up and 9 down for Cannon.

Is the upper deck too high there, too? Stadium facing the wrong way?

I guess primarily the look? One of them compared it to a woman that he'd turn around and leave if he saw her waiting at a blind date...which is potentially more revealing about him than the ballpark.

Spring Training sites are glorified AA parks. One would think these guys get regular HR "training" that tells them to just shut up about women's looks.
