Obviously Ozzie isn't getting this honor without his managerial run, but I think sabermetrics have really validated his playing career. Defensive stats for the old days aren't perfect, but they have peak Ozzie Guillen as a defender producing a similar level of value that Ozzie Smith did at the peak of his powers. They don't make too many players like that anymore but he was a really good player for a pretty good stretch.

Really happy for Ozzie. He loves this franchise like we do. They should invite Donaldson to the ceremony.

Agreed. Ozzie was a really good player. Scrapy and hard nosed. That 92 season went down the tube when Ozzie blew out his knee

'Why now?' is what I wonder. Can't give another ring of honor to some random Bulls alum? Next season they're gonna retire Stacey King's number (hopefully just retire him).

Not that it isn't deserved, I guess, but it seems like one of those nostalgia-derived things to try and keep the fanbase interested in a team putting out a less-than-stellar product.
