100%. It became obvious that Getz made that trade without even knowing whether Aucna was a switch hitter or whether he could ever be a starting CFer in the major league. Tristan Peters and Derek Hill have played well in CF (and have provided some notable offensive moments). OTOH, Acuna has shown the opposite - he has issues judging flyballs, his throws have been wild, and he can't hit , at least not well enough to outweigh his defensive liabilities. And yes, there is no doubt that Getz is in defensive mode on that trade. That and I believe Acuna may be out of options. IMO, if Braden was even close to ready, or if Hays leg injury was rehabbed, Acuna would be a reluctant but well justified DFA.

Edited to add - to the extent Ozzie can sway Sox management a bit about a fellow Venezuelan player, maybe his promotion of Acuna matters. Acuna has also bobbled some ground balls and Venable has not used him as in infielder that much, so I don't think that his glove on the infield is worth anything to this team. DFA, and don't look back.

I'm just wondering how Acuña was involved in the fake moon landing.

How much longer can they keep trotting Acuna out there? 25 wRC+ and -.4 fWAR. I'd hope his leash isn't too much longer. Try anybody else.

His ability to play CF and a good SS makes him worth the playing-time investment. Regardless, who else is there for CF?

Not sure if Ozzie has any pull with Getz or not. I wouldn’t be surprised if he loved Acuna, a Venezuelan SS, coming to the team. I haven’t paid enough attention to the post-game show, but I would assume he also loves Pereira as well due to the Venezuelan connection?

Derek Hill, Tristan Peters, Everson Periera. Acuna is going to hurt somebody with a collision if Venable continues to starts him out there. The Sox have to try to win every game for the fans. No long leash for a bad dog.
